Becareful welding....

Recommended Posts

Well, just had an eventful trip to an A&E tonight, was busy welding when a bit of slag dropped out and ignited what we assume was a gas pocket from the patio heater which hadn't been turned off properly....

:bang:

Needless to say one gas flash flame later and I was somewhat burnt.. burnt hair on face, much shorter beard and even less hair on my face. The flame ball went up into the welding helmet.

Luckily my face only got slightly burnt, my hand however now has 2nd degree burns to roughly 60% of my hand it is now covered in bandagaes and Jelonex pads...

Next time, note to self, make sure the area is ventilated and gas free :p .....

Jesus mate, that is very lucky indeed. We could still be waiting for you to come down if it had been a lot of gas!!:D

H.

More importantly I had just finished building the shed, and I'd be really pissed if I had to put a new roof on, just done it as well...:p

Christ Gav! That must hurt like hell

Admit it, it was just a bong accident :D

I had been having problems with the lighter earlier during the day and decided to use something more effective... Feel like that bloke in scary movie when he gets sparked up.

And now the News, Stable door gets fitted with new locks following horse bolting incident.

Ouch, I once burnt my hair off after messing on with a lighted jet hairspray bottle (long story) which ignited a fine layer of dust all over the plasterboard ceiling. I heard a kind of "wumpff" noise, and it was at least 30mins later when I touched my hair and it was all hard and brittle and just crumbled off the top of me.

I put 2 and 2 together and realised what that noise was.

Very very true, wouldn't have helped much with the propane flash, but I certainly wouldn't be sat here with my hand covered up.

It was the 'thump' that caught my attention more than anything else....and I can still smell burnt hair this morning...

You're a very lucky man, with an instant sun tan I assume??:)

Instant tan on legs and left hand... and yeah my legs were covered, flames shot up my trousers...

But yeah I got classic sunburnt lip feeling...

Next step, Marine grade 2 haircut..

All together now "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.......

Amen to that, I'll sing the chorus...:p

Holy smoke! Glad you're OK mate. How long do you have to wear the bandages for?

Got to changed every two days, for about 3 weeks they reckon..

Still one advantage, I've had a few offers of nurses in outfits (Well they aren't qualified, but I'm not bothered :p )
