Right...   I'll try the fuse/ECU THINGY 1st, if that's no good - then I'll take it to Toyotas. Can't cost TOO much just to 'plug-it-in' ?!?

YES the Odo' IS working although it SAYS KM but is definitely clocking-up miles (6 mile run alongside my Dads Megane = 0.1 difference !...    at the same time checked speed = His 40, Supra ~43 / His 70, Supra ~70) so the conversion has been done; BUT what with no spoiler (on-the-move) and no cruise ('CRUISE' lights up but nothing - no matter which order I 'Set'/'Resume'/'etc'), perhaps not 'fed' around right (??)

It would be LOVELY if the fuses rest it and the lights stay out BUT that would be a tad' TOO easy [though we've had the things 'squiffy' on several late Fiestas in work and YES the Electrician just reset the management and PRESTO]

DON'T WHAT...??????????????

Now come on, a joke's a joke but.....

ALTHOUGH I suppose it could be a 'fuel economy gauge' just like the RIDICULOUS ones in the BMW's...

" OOOHHH look, if I accelerate it goes down, and, OOOHHH if I pull my foot right off the accelerator it goes up.?.?.?"

It's going into Toyota's tomorrow. They said "Oh, don't know if we can test an import" - :)me>>:)"I'm 99% sure it'll be the same diagnostic circuit mate but I won't blame you if you don't find it" (I sounded like I knew what I was talking about BUT is that right - ARE they the same ?)

I will, of course, report back on there findings (or lack of..).

Over-and-out,  "pi**ed off from Essex".

Just a thought, do the Supras have a fuse marked 'DOME', if so pull that, it clears latent warning signals that are not required.

But it does sound like an ECU problem to me, try the J300 jumper 'trick' in the Cruise also, a fault there shows a similar effect in the 3ltr NA Soarers.

The problem is in the way your car has been converted to read miles instead of KM's.  99.9% of people who do this conversion have not one iota of an idea of what they are doing.  Hardly a car gets converted by some garage or other without there being a problem.

I'm sorry to give you the bad news Steve, but i am 99.9% sure that they won't fix it.

It needs somebody who know's Supra's quite well and particularly the electrics. All they will do is narrow it down to the speed converter, suck air in over their teeth and tell you they can't touch that as it is non-Toyota.

Whereabouts in Essex are you ?

Romford...

Yes, I don't mind if they narrow it down to the speed convertor, as long as it's not a REAL problem.

[PLUS the airbag light is still on - PLUS the cruise doesn't work - PLUS the spoiler doesn't SEEM to work (other than 'standstill')]

I just want a 'peace-of-mind' check to tell me things like fuel pump/ ECU itself are OK i.e. things I still have time to throw back at the dealer.

Steve,

Sounds like you have a right anoying one there.

If it helps, I have contacted Pete in the past and he is very helpful - more importantly he knows the electrics better than any garage you will find.

Even if it costs you a couple of hundred quid to get it all sorted it is darn good peace of mind + you know it has been done properly by somebody who gives a **** -

If you play it carefully you can bill it back to your original garage.... Tell them that you have done the research - found a specialist and got a quote, and more than likely they will accept it because they wont have an iota - get Pete to do you a full report and you are sorted.

Document everything mind you.......

Best of luck!

SORRY Martin,

I hadn't said anything because it's 'FESTERING' at the moment.

Mark Kass (Romford Toyota) plugged in the diagnostic and after a quick 'wip-wap' up the dual-carriageway ... BING "!" and Management Lights on.... gives 3 fault codes.

1 appears to be Throttle Position Sensor(s?); 1 APPEARS to be Airbag; 3rd not sure. BUT before they commit themselves they want the Fault Codes from Lexus (Hills at Woodford) BECAUSE - ? - the Supra was NEVER brought into the country by Toyota ONLY by LEXUS outlets ??

That's news to me, but they have to request info etc. from 'Lexus'.

All sounds a bit like "Don't Know" to me. but if there's a chance it's something tangible (?) like Sensors etc. then may as well get Toyotas to do/guarantee the work and get the Mazda dealer to pay THEM.

The REALLY annoying thing is that 'Soopy' still starts/drives/pulls-like-a-train/is as smooth as that cream stuff that you.... ... .. . SORRY, lost it for a moment.

Yours, EASTERLY, Steve W.
