Vaughany
I was hoping someone could answer this question for me. Why does my Suprs make slightly more boost when the OD switch is on. (Using the 4 gears) When I am using the 4th Gear the car peak boost is about 1.3bar.which gave me a little cause for concern. However when the car was dynoed today the boost peaked at 1.2bar and would not go any higher. When the dyno was done they only use the 3 gears with the OD off. Is there any reason for this or is my Soop just different. Obviously the car has reached 1.3 bar driving on the roads so would this make a differnce compared to a dyno test. Chris Wilson
Boost is load and torque related, relative to engine RPM, loading the engine through peak torqu (about 3500 to 4250 RPM) should show maximum boost levels that will be achieved. OD loads the engine for longer through this rpm range due to the higher gearing and loading. It's also why you won't ever hit max boost in 1st gear, or if it does, it will be VERY transient.
