You must have a restrictor ring in with J-spec turbos. You can get a 1.2 bar RR, I have heard of a few people that run with no RR but it is if lady luck is on you're side. You will more than likely boost over 1.2 bar with no ring in place drasticly reducing the life of your turbos.

Boost surpringsly can be controlled by the use of your right foot. So running a short distance taking it easy and keeping an eye on your boost gauge should see you allright. If you can keep it under 3.6k-4krpm and there shouldn't be a prob, as tubby 1 won't overboost afaik.

Yes, leave the restrictor ring in place and use the boost controller to raise it to 1.2 bar.

If you remove the restrictor ring and you get more than 1.2 bar with the fmic, the boost controller cannot be used to reduce boost - only increase it.

I misread your post...sorry. Leave the RR in as said and use your boost controller to up it to 1.2bar. Without your RR you won't be able to keep boost down on its own. Boost controllers can only increase boost, not decrease it.
