hogmaw
Driving in the Astra there was a very narrow bit of road and my drivers side mirror clipped the mirror of another car coming towards me. I didn't see what happened to his mirror, cos I was in a hurry, traffic was busy and so I didn't stop. My one got its glass smashed and the plastic covering on the back had come off. Our lass says I should have stopped. So should I have, or is this just a minor thing that's ulimately inconsequential and I should just get myself a new mirror? First 'accident' for 20 years btw
Jake
How many points can you get for 'Failing To Stop At The Scene Of An Accident'?
TonyP
Same thing happened to me a few years ago. I didn't stop either. The worst that could have happened to his car is the same as yours. You're both equally to blame why stop??
mathew
long story cut short. mate hit a mirror. mate drove off. situation was reported. mate went to court. mate got 6 points + £450 fine.
Pot
Did the other chap stop? I guess if they didn't, then they can't be that bothered...
hogmaw
I doubt the other person stopped, and even if they did there was so much traffic both behind and in front of him and me there was no way he'd see my reg... I was long gone

I was long gone I'd say technically, you should have stopped, but you saw the other driver drive off And for you to stop just where it happened, or a bit down the road would have caused a bigger hazard considering the traffic... So you were in the right for carrying on...
Homer
You should have stopped. You had an accident so are required by law to (at least attempt) to exchange insurance details. If you stopped and the other driver continued then they committed the offence.

You're both equally to blame why stop?? Not true, depends on the car. Same thing happened to me - the other car (Audi A4) came round a bend too fast, into my lane and clipped my (Shitty megane) mirror and smashed it. It was a courtesy car so I chased and stopped the driver and got his details. His mirror was totally fine! lol.
