In another 6 months he (your mal) will be a monster, they grow sooo quickly!

He is already the size of a lab!

I know what to expect, as i had a male and a female with my EX, but unfortunately he kept them![sAD][/sAD] I miss them like mad, It doesn't help that my pup is from their litter, and looks just like his dad!

Malamutes are beautiful dogs, I have always fancied one, but with all our animals it would be a nightmare, they are so difficult to make obedient and their prey drive is hard to break, too. On looks alone though they are a stunning animal. Has the pup been after the other livestock yet?

He likes to chase the duck and chicken, but as soon as you tell him no he leaves them alone, he is getting better!!

Though one of the chickens has died, but no-one saw what happened????

Elmo: Have you got a Malamute? Whereabouts in Shropshire are you?

Hi Chris, yeah I have a Malamute.

I'm in Telford, I bought some brake discs and pads from you a while back and picked them up from your Mrs at Horton Wood :D

Yeah you have to be so careful, they can be buggers!

I've only ever let Apollo of the lead twice. The first time he crashed through an electric fence to chase some pigs, the pigs stood their ground and he decided it wasn't worth the hastle and walked off!

2nd time was on a (what I thought) was a deserted beach in Wales, I let him off but in the very far distance Apollo spotted a boarder collie and took off after it, he jumped into the sea to catch the collie while it was fetching a ball, luckilly I managed to jump on him when he came out of the water :D

Im quite lucky with mine, he has been allowed off the lead since he could go out, so he is pretty good at coming back. Sometimes he is having way too much fun and ignores me. but he is still young!!!

I wish I could let Apollo off the lead but just don't trust him. he hates other dogs and is a real Jackyl and hyde, great with kids though, they can climb all over him, pull his ears and tail and he lies there and takes it!

Have you tried specialist training with him??? With someone trained to deal with aggresion towards other dogs?

Sox is great with my niece and nephews, even when he was really little and teething he didn't chew on them! Everyone else, but not kids!

I took him to classes when I first got him but just wanted to attack the other dogs, I think the trainer gave up on him in the end. He's 8 now so it's a little bit late!

Let's see what you say when he's 18 months :) Neighbours have 3 pyreneeans, they too are a stubborn SOB breed. Luckily they are either overweight or have bad hips, so can't jump a 3 foot 6 inch fence. They seem to dislike me, and our Russians dislike them! They seem to take absolutely no notice of their owners, so if they do get out God knows what will happen, one has defintely got an eye on taking a lump out of me.

Luckily he isn't aggresive towards other dogs! He has been socialised from a young age with other dogs and plenty of people!

That is so cute!

Have you ever been to a Mal or huskie race?

No, not a professional race, but I have been on a sled when I went snowboarding in Tignes, it's fantastic, I just love the noises the pack make when they get excited before a run :D

Unfortunately, Apollo wasn't rescued until he was 18 months old and hadn't been socialised with other dogs. While he was at the rescue centre he lived next to mostly GSD's (and learned to bark like a GSD's too!).

Does your mal bark?

Yeah a little cause of the lab, does yours howl? Sox does and i love it! Is yours a big cuddly teddy bear though? Mals tend to like hugs!

WHAT is GSD's

GSD = German Sheppards.

He used to howel, but it was quite a half-hearted pathetic howel, he doesn't do it much anymore but he makes some fantastic wookie noises!

Yeah he's a big fluffy fuss pot, normally tells me off if I stop rubbing his legs or something!
