Golddigga
Guys and girls, It is with a heavy heart that I put up this post. Was doing my lights the other day and noticed that I had a bit of oil on the engine. Not too much and not puddles of oil under the car etc. I checked my oil today and it is just over about half full. However, I don't know what it was on as I have never checked it before. Only owned the car for a few months. The oil is round the first seal on the engine on the metal just below the black surround to the oil cap. Somebody I know says it might be the rocker cover gasket but they haven't seen the car and don't know Supras. Can you see where the head gasket is located by just opening the bonnet? I will try and get some pics up later. If it is the headgasket how much is it to fix? How easy is it to buy the bits yourself and replace it? Thanks for all your help, just off to cry. tarcase
Plonker, you should have checked your oil the day you bought the car and then again at least a few days later and then weekly. Sorry mate - girl powe!!! Blokes!!!

Sorry mate - girl powe!!! Blokes!!! helpful post yes it could well be seeping from your cam cover gaskets, which afaik isn't a big job to do (did these on a skyline gts once) when I did this the oil was consitant around the whole permiter on both sides, I'd suggest wiping the oil from around the area, top up and see how rapidly it's leaking and book yourself into a garage. You can do it yourself if you know what your doing:) GBH probably arnt far from you?
gaz1
sounds like an easy fix, take some pics and post up;)
Soonto_HAS_soop
I doubt it would be a head gasket if you can see the oil up by the filler cap. It could be the rocker covers as already mentioned, best bet is to get some photos up and people can have a look to see what/where is affected. As for "Girl Powe!!!", keep your lack of knowledge to the off topic section.
Golddigga
Thanks for the helpful posts guys. And thanks for pointing out that I am a plonker I have now attached a pic. Looking through some other posts it looks like the rocker cover gasket. Anybody have an idea how much it is to replace? or how difficult it is to do yourself? Thanks, Chris. Soonto_HAS_soop
They aren't expensive, however, looking as if you have an NA, they will probably be a pain in the arse to change over. Looks like you will need to remove the intake etc to get to them in the first place. Once that is removed, they are pretty simple.
Tom
Ahh it's an n/a, as soonto says, more of a pain than a tt, but still simple to do

Jive
On an NA it is quite a daunting task but once you've got a few bits removed it's quite easy to get to the cam covers. I'll be doing this very soon as I've just ordered a new set of gaskets from Steve Manley (approx £8 for the gaskets) as I've got quite a bit of oil sat around the spark plugs I'll be taking lots of pics and will get a guide up for here shortly, hopefully by this time next week if you can wait that long? Need4Speed
That is about the smallest oil leak I've seen. I'd be tempted to clean it up and then keep an eye on it to see how long it takes to reappear. If it's a real problem, then change the gasket if you can DIY.
Jive
That is about the smallest oil leak I've seen. I had about the same from that area, but when I took my spark plugs out, they were covered in oil - so he could have the same problem as me, ie the leak is actually in a very difficult place to be. Golddigga
Hi mate, I only use the Soop at weekends and this Weds when I am going to a meet;) so your guide would be fantastic. Would need to be in Noddy talk though! Thanks, Chris. On an NA it is quite a daunting task but once you've got a few bits removed it's quite easy to get to the cam covers.
