Very nice, they feel solid as a rock.

My neighbour got a black one, pure teutonic muscle.

He said the first oil change isn't meant to be until 20K miles or something silly like that - hmmmm, I'd change it at 1K no matter what the manual claims...

Bit of slight disappointment, was expecting to pick it up on Saturday, it's now going to be Tuesday/Wednesday. The RAC inspection showed up a couple of things which needed sorting (Aircon regas, upcoming service is carried out now & 1 of the 3 front rads needs attention), TBH I'd rather the car had no problems and was late, than I got it on Saturday with problems. So the wait continues. On the plus side the insurance worked out at £770 fully comp for me & my lass protected!!!,

Front rads are common on these and C4S from some reason, road salt and general debris collects in the front intake ducts and eats away at the bottom of the rads and AirCon condensors, while the front PU's off i'd serious give the other side rad and centre rad (Tiptronics should have a centre too if my memory serves me right) a good going over. A/C condensors generally survive a bit longer as the sit very slightly above rad bottom edge.

Make sure you get the engine well checked over for oil leaks as the breather console on to of crakcase has a habit of leaking down and appearing through cylinder barrel gaps on underside.

Intermediate shaft sprockets can some times be very noisey on these, just have to live with i'm afraid as big bucks for full engine just to replaceshaft+woodruff key.

Also N/side and O/side turbo heatsheilds have a habit of disolving on a cars with a some mileage on them and rattle pretty badly as well as rear silencer fixings disolving leaving rear heatshield rattling away (though gives you excuse for an aftermarket silencer- sound awsome!)

PSM along with Engine Check warning lights can flag up on these if your Air-mass sensor goes out of tolerance, random one to diagnose.

Not trying to scare you! 996 Turbo one of my fav Porks to drive, if i recall correctly 996 Turbo in Tip was 1st Porsche Tiptronic/Auto to have faster official published sprint stats that it's MANUAL option cos of it's rapid gear shifts! (Supra TT Auto doesn't feel too bad in comparison tho)

A lot less of a handfull than a GT2 or GT3 come to that, and the 997 model turbo with the Variable Vane Turbo doesn't feel much quicker either in my opinion.

If you have questions mate i'll try and answer them for you (was Porsche Apprentice Of The Year a few years ago;)

Top man Stevie, I'm sure I'll have many Q's for you then (got a couple lined up already actually :D)

Funnily enough when you mention general debris collecting in front of the rad, the RAC inspection showed up some leaves caught in there which need cleaning out, when I mentioned it to the dealer he said I'd constantly need to keep on top of stuff getting caught in there.

Engine has been checked over, no leaks, even rear main seal is bone dry (cars done 28000 miles). Was a small amount of oil around transfer box, garage are sorting that too before I collect it.

My mates has a funny rattle coming from the back when he corners, not a clunk, more like something light flapping, could that be one of these heat shields???

Yeah, I'd love a GT2 or GT3, but I wouldn't trust my lass in a 480bhp RWD GT2 and she doesn't like cars with rollcages :D

I'm sure once I get it I'll have hundreds more Q's :D

I'm happy to be proven wrong - but I'm pretty sure the turbos don't suffer from the well known 996 RMS problem. Different design.
