hodge
My new engine arrived the other day and ive compard it to the 1 thats in and theres some minor differences, can anyone please explain why. The water pump seems different, theres a great big chuffing sensor sticking out of it, which mine doesnt have. Also the turbo pipes are also different to the re-cerculating valve. The valve is bolted like a flange type fit the the pipe but mine just connects with 2 pipes. Odviously i can just change the water pump and boost pipes for the ones from my own engine but am wondering why they are different. Were there any engine components changed at any point. My car is a J-spec 1994 TT engine.

bignum
The pipe on the waterpump is a drain incase the seal leaks water is diverted away from your alternator

hodge
That wont make any difference if it an aristo engine will it.I will just be able to swap the water pump and the boost pipes and it will be fine or is there anything else i will need to change. colsoop
John as above its an aristo engine, i believe the intake manifold is slightly different too, it doesn't have the top feed for the brake booster.
LuxobargeTT
Yeh, aristo lump, as above plus the sump is different also
hodge
The sump on the new engine is dinted slightly, does this mean I cant replace it with the sump off my Supra engine.
LuxobargeTT
You need to put a Supra 2JZ sump on it. The Aristo 2JZ has a sump at the front of the engine, where the Supra 2JZ has a rear/off center sump.
