CJ
I think my first port of call would be to pull the ECU fuse in the main fuse box. Leave it for a minute or so and see if it then resets itself.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
yes somebody is helping me thanks cj a will try that and see what happens mate
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
dont want to sound stupid but i checked on the engine bay and does not appear to have a fuse for ecu in that fuse box and therefor am stuck again
CJ
The main fuse holder is on the passenger side near the front of the engine bay. The ecu fuse is one of the 30 amp ones.

Jurgen-Jm-Imports
well that doesnt do the trick unless i pulled wrong fuses, but mine has only 2 30 amp ones any other ideas
chazuk
How long did you leave the fuse out for as I know ECU hold there memory for a while >?..
Chris Wilson
Just disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and switch on the ignition for a second whilst it's disconnected to drain any residual power from the ecu. I don't think it will help though, you will probably need to remove the idle control valve and wash it out in clean petrol, perhaps leave it to soak overnight in petrol. They gum up inside. Blow out with air before refitting. That usually fixes them. Otherwise the throttle pot may need resttting, but BEFORE doing this make sure you have all the info and voltages to hand, and check for fault codes first in case it's something else. Syed Shah
If your getting desperate, you could tighten the throttle cable a little, so that it is open a crack already.
