pete_TT
Recieved my Stubby aerial today from the group buy, though i have a problem as i can't fit it as i think im missin a part which i think is an extension.(see pic below) (Circled) (This pic is from the first page of the group buy) Is anyone else missing this part? Without it the aerial dosent reach the amplifier. I also found a good fitting guide on the supraforum. http://1210.8k.com/ I don't think im the only one missing this part. Thanks
superpaulwilson
yep i was missing this. ended up making my own and doing a few other alterations to make it fit good.
Class One
I've just fitted mine. I didn't have that bit and I admit that the fit around the grommet iis none too good. Where does that bit go? Edit to add I didn't get the base antenna nut either. Is this because we ended up getting a slightly different kit to the one pictured? mr lover
i was missing that piece, thats why i struggled to fit mine, all becomes clear now
superpaulwilson
it should go between the antenna base and the aerial itself. i ended up extending the wire and making my own extension.
Class One
Bugger. Well I hacked my inner grommet to make it fit, (which it doesn't now)

Look at the fitting guide on the weblink i provided pic 8 shows where it goes. superpaulwilson is there any chance you could make another extension for me for some cash? maybe Imi can talk to his supplier and get some extensions? Not really happy to fit the aerial to my car without the extension bit as the fit around the grommit isnt great.
superpaulwilson
I can't really make any more. It was just from a bit of plastic pipe i had layin around that i cut up, re-soldered and extended the wire from the sender. The end result was worth it. AndrewOW
After having a look at mine, I'm also missing that metallic bit too.

pete_TT
Could we have a link, perhaps? Link is at the top of this page, but here it is again http://1210.8k.com/
AndrewOW
Cheers for that. It really looks so simple. Just need a bracket and the extension thingy now, then I'll get it on! Sorry I didn't look that closely at the top of the page. Thanks again for posting it anyway.
pete_TT
where we gonna get an extension from though?
AndrewOW
Ah I don't know, so I may have to join, or solder, some wire between the 2 parts to connect them as superpaulwilson has done. Will have to ensure a good connection! Has anyone actually tested it yet tho?
pete_TT
how did u attach the aerial to the grommit superpaulwilson?
2JG
forgive me for asking a silly question, but if you solder a wire to the base and then to the stubby, what is holding the stubby in place on the outside of the car? what is the stubby screwing into? or have i missed something? EDIT: beaten to it
MarkTheBoy
Has anyone spoken to Imi about this, mine is missing the same bit and was a bit dubious about a bodge job.

Class One
In the end I just cut the inner grommet as per Mr Lovers thread and placed it in hot water and the pushed it into the hole and got a snug fit. Put the aerial directly onto the booster pack and then boleted that in using the bracket supplied. This left it with a slight gap around the aerial and the outer sleeve that goes over the aerial and grommet, but a bit of clear silicone sealent has sorted that out. A couple of pics. So all in all actually, I'm quite pleased with it.

turbonut
yeah, agreed. Another thing, anyone noticed that the antenna mount is longer in the pack we've received than the picture (top of this thread??) thanks guys Linda
