ben1985
Ok this may not be to all people's tastes, but me and a couple of lads want to arrange a holiday somewhere and want to camp out and catch our own food. We are thinking somewhere in the woods, with a river or lake nearby to fish in. Has anyone ever done this before? If so, whereabouts? We are thinking Europe, just because we don't have that much money!! Any help appreciated! Ben
SupraAyf
A tent and a few tins of beans in the Scottish mountains/English Lakes/Dartmoor National Park would be a good start. Not sure if you'll be up to the hunting bit yet unless you're quite handy with a few survival techniques;)
Ian W
if it's basically fishing you're after then head up into the scottish highlands mate. glen coe and above you've plenty of hills / woods / lochs to fish in.....take a crate of beer and you can't go wrong
ben1985
Lol cheers! We are not thinking of the whole bear grylls survival thing!! We just want to camp somewhere, catch some fish and find out info on the internet about making snares and stuff. We know that we are not survival specialists and will probably be eating beans most nights, but want to at least try!! I don't think it is unreasonable to expect to catch and eat fish and maybe catch some rabbits or similar things to eat. I mean TV chef Michael Robinson managed to camp out and catch food! I am a pretty good cook and know how to prepare pretty much most things that we have a chance of catching!! Cheers for the input though. Sounds like a good idea, and Scotland is a really nice place. Would be sweet camping out somewhere with nice views and just relaxing with a few beers and some fishing!! Shane
If you are looking for real adventure, than Romania totally fits the bill. Getting there by land is quite good fun in itself. If you go North of Bucuresti towards Brasov, Sinia, then the mountains have wild bears and the scenery is breathtaking, the beer is cheep in Romania as are quite a lot of things. If you went to Baile Herculane which is in the SW of the country this has everthing, campsites, rivers, thermal baths and westernish hotels with nitespots and the beer is cheep there also! Close by this part of the country is the Danube where you can see Serbska from the banks and loads of other real beauty spots. If yiu have never been close to Eastern Europe before then you have to experience this place. Go with an open mind and you will be amazed. Only thing is, dont even consider taking the supe there, if the roads didn't kill it before it got knicked you would have done well. Lived and worked there for a while and it is an amazing country and every day is an adventure so long as you don't compare it too much with what you are probably used to. No not seen it, bit will look out for it now you have told me. Mate, have you walked through London Victoria Station, or Luton town centre at night lately? Shit happens anywhere you care to look. Fact remains that if they want adventure, camping, outdoor stuff, and cheep beer Romania is tops in my opinion.

Cheers Shane, that sounds pretty awesome!! I have been to Romania before and never really felt in danger, plus if we are camping we will have big knives!! I will have to check out the places you mention, as even if we don't go there for the camping, it sounds like it is definitely somewhere to go to for a holiday!! And the cheapness is an added bonus!! Thanks mate
