MaveriK
Was coming back from Turbofit friday after having the final touches done to the engine setup (Thanks again guys!) Was a lovely day, Milton Keynes had had a clothes show on for me to watch while drinking coffee, all good!! Got back in the car and was off home, sunny day and ZZ Top killing my ear drums. Came off a roundabout onto a nice straight and went for the loud pedal. Hit 30-40 in no time when all hell broke lose, thankful it wasnt a further 100-200 yards down the road. Havard
Worrying!! Did you hit anything metal that could have sliced the tyre or has it just given way?? Very lucky though mate!! H.
SatSport
check there`s nothing fouling the inner part of the tyre on full lock maybe............ just noticed the mark on the rest of the tyre ??

MaveriK
Just having it looked at, looks as though the entire sidewall collapsed. Should have an update later today. Would i be right in saying i should be running 235/40/18's on the front and 265/35/18's on the rear?
Lucifer
What was teh make and model ?
Lucifer
And oh BTW - it was caused by Fouling (as stated above) or Low pressure. You can clearly see the heat mark / ring.
MaveriK
What were the OE sizes of the tyres?
Soonto_HAS_soop
You sure that you didn't have a flat, the tyre would of folded and done something along the lines of that damage. If anything was fouling the tyre I would of expected to see the entire circumference marked, rather than just every 2-3 inches.
MaveriK
Correct Lucifer, just had the test results and they are saying that there is a sign of a puncture which resulted in the pressure loss and then bang bang. We may do a sectioning to be on the safe side though.
Soonto_HAS_soop
Was that tyre on the Passenger side by any chance?
MaveriK
It was indeed
Soonto_HAS_soop
You would of done most of the damage going round the roundabout then, the inside lip has folded and scrubbed the inside of the tyre against itself, it obviously then failed when you booted on the roundabout exit. Kranz
Got to be a good example of the usefulness of those automatic tyre pressure monitors I think????? At least it was at relatively low speed!
stuohy
Jeez... glad you're okay buddy Think I might go and check the old pressures this afternoon... what should they be? (18")
