Green Peace
My upper back and neck is really tense and hurts when i twist my head, its a pain doing the mirror signal manouvre thing. Is there any massuers on here? I dont want any extras, and im not bothered if its male or female....! (dont really want a she male though ha ha) I dunno if its stress or the way ive been laying..might be the result of the missionary position i tried for the first time the other day ha ha (im kidding obviously) Anyone had a (legit) massage? whats involved how much does it cost? what should i check for to make sure they are properly trained? Cheers Si

razza
try somewhere like house of fraser, they have a beauty place in them and do good massages, the missus got me one before when I was getting stressed through work, think it was only about £18. Just keep reminding yourself not to ask for extras:search: I do Indian Head massages which work on the neck very well, also do Reiki which when combined can do the job. If you're round my neck;) of the woods give me a shout.

turbonut
Have you thought of seeing a chiropractor? He/she will manipulate your neck back into place if its cricked and help with any long term probs too, if its happened before? good luck with sorting it anyway, I won't say anything rude like references to being a pain in the neck as I don't know you well enough to be cheeky! Class One
Have you been to see your GP? I've had some pretty bad lower back problems since my early 20's, but I've just put up with the discomfort without bothering my GP. My wife was then involved in a shunt on her way to work and had to have some physio as a result. I decided to visit to see if she could sort my back and had some manipulation and accupuncture and she gave me some strengthening and stretching exercises to do daily/weekly to help look after it. Its a regime now. However I wen out on my mountain bike last week and I've done something to my back again and this time none of my stretches eased the pain. I wen to to see my gp, as I was concerned that I had suffered an osteoporitic fracture in one of my vertebrae and I haven't been to work since last week as I can't sit or stand for any length of time and I wasn't sleeping properly because I couldn't get comfortable. So I've given in and resorted to prescribed pain relief and a muscle relaxant to help. So I'll see how it goes. I'd recommend seeing an Osteo at first, and let them give you a work up to check your posture etc. Or pop into any phone box in the west end and give any of those calling cards a bell offering a massage. Rub and a tug sir??

Im sorry to hear about your probs, mine are all neck and shoulder not lower back, lower back is worse i think. i'll give it another day see what happens, its just odd how its moved from left to right, i have no swollen glands anywhere, so i guess its just some kind of physical thing...i'm never ill ever, but i eat all the wrong things (thats when i actually eat coz i hardly eat much always been a non eater) and i smoke as ya know...plus strange sexual habits involving misuse of a dyson etc...(though i was told that nothing sucks like an Electrolux) Im just run down i guess, but if it dont go away i'll see the Osteo, trouble is i cant get a refferal coz i havent got a GP..so need to go get one i guess first. Thanks for that Doug, and hope ya keeping ok! Si

JustGav
Simon, Pop yourself down to your local gym complex, they usually offer those sort of services down there. (without extras obviously)... Either that or have a look around, I remember we used to have a person come in once a week when I worked in London to do that exact thing. The stress of working 18hour days weeks at a time used to take it out of the team so management were good enough to pay for a 30 minute session in the office. Thanks Gareth...thats a shame, thanks though...wish i lived in Lancashire now...tbh i feel a bit lifeless and weak too (No comments ha ha) If I aint feeling any better tommorow will have to go find a GP and take it from there. Is it normal for a pain to travel about your body its kind of going down my back now, its well odd maybe i have one of them Aliens in side me.. Yep Thanks Phoenix..will check that option out too..cheers

AndyT
Don't need a referral for osteo sir. Fill in the obligatory medical questionnaire when you're there. Be careful of younger osteos they didn't have to practice as a GP first. Which means older professionals had to train for at least 7 years before being allowed to touch our frail bodies. And upper neck problems can be generated by lower back stuff. It's all about your body trying to protect you from further damage ie your muscles will work to protect your skeleton. As Class One, been in this poo since 20's off and on. Luck mate hope you're doing better soon. Ooh one more. Pain killers disguise pain in these situations and you can really hurt yourself then. Last resort mate. Regards.
terribleturner
Funny you should post this Simon. My back has been playing up lately and i put it down to being on the bike. Like Doug it's lower back and sometimes i feel im stuck in a position. Would have loved to have taken lots more pictures yesterday, but i knew if i was to lie down or crouch the wrong way i'd be in trouble. Was thinking about either seeing the doctor or looking into getting a proper massage but was scared what sort of this would be logged into my computer's history if i googled

Green Peace
At this present moment I am enjoying the benefits of my prescribded meds and a glass of red wine or two. Well had two glasses of red wine last night...and mate i know (and doesn't wanna bum me lol)gave me an upper back massage...and i have to say i feel much better, yesturday i was in pain and could hardly move my head...I didn't want to make a fuss so i came on here and made a fuss instead. still hurts a little when moving my head but its reduced to the lower area of the neck and i feel heaps better...I did take about 6 Nurofen and two glasses of wine....The nurofen didn't make any difference but I forced my self out for a meal...really didn't feel well enough, but after some laughter and good company...things got better...must be stress..Im sorry for the fuss..it just went on for a few days though and was getting bit worried. Human life is so fragile...I guess im a big woose! I hope yours and Jame's back improves, i guess this thread has been helpful too others too. Good to know Mkivsupra has a few medical professionals on here..think theres a dentist too on here somewhere

Chewie
I had exactly what you got. Pain in shoulders and down the back of the neck. It's your trapezius and deltoids. Mine was from sleeping on oneside all night so I didn't have to look at the missus combined with working on a CAD PC workstation for 16 hrs a day and surfing The Hun and this mkivsupra.net all day. It's the way you're sitting hunched over a keyboard. Cost 6x chiropractor sessions @£28 each and reclaimed on company health scheme.
