Jspec Germany
Anyone done this recently? I have the arms and need to change them out to try and fix my side-side yawing issue that's been also highlighted by several members recently. The manual says that both wheels come off and then the axles have to come out before the control arms can be removed. Thoughts? When I do it, I'll take pictures and post up. Jspec Germany
Come on guys. All the wrench turners we have and nobody's done this recently? Sorry for the early bump, but I want to get this done asap. Was supposed to take the car to the Ring tomorrow and can't now. Riding shotgun in a 350z just isn't the same. colsoop
I seem to have a memory of Rob sheffield mentioning he replaced them at some point, perhaps giving him a pm may help. i will be replacing my front and rear control arms in a couple of months but i think thats probably too late. RobSheffield
I replaced the front ones. I didnt remove or replace the rear ones. Just the hub for a rear wheel bearing job. The LCA at the rear, thats like the lower arm right? There is an arm, and then another to the rear of the hub as you look at it, which are you replacing Mike? (thats important as one will be easy and the other not so I didnt remove the axles, but i removed wheels and i would GUESS, you would just remove the long inboard bolt and the outer bolt from the hub (again a guess here Mike) Excuse my memory being hazy, it was like a year ago when i did the bearings! Jspec Germany
Crap. Thanks guys. It's the farthest rearward lower control arm I'm replacing. I guess I'll just have to follow the workshop manual. Lucifer, have you done this and do you have any torque specifications for the entire rear suspension? I can't seem to find the Torque Specifications pdf file amonst my folder of poo.

RobSheffield
It's the farthest rearward lower control arm I'm replacing *shudders* Yeah, thats a pain that one. In that case yes i did release the inboard end of it (large bolt, iirc 17 or 19mm ends, camber indicator plate on there too) I never released the outboard end as its a LARGE balljoint that my balljoint splitters (screw type) were too small for. I am not a fan of the impact type splitter
Jspec Germany
Crap. May let Mr. T do this one and just bite the bullet. At 80 Euro per hour for labor, that could be expensive.
Jspec Germany
I still haven't done this out of fear. Rob, do you have a list of tools involved, or any pics of when you did it?
Chris Wilson
Nothing special required, hub and drive shaft stay in situ. Normal combination spanners and sockets and big soft faced mallet to break the tapers on the hub end joints. Quite easy to do, especially on a ramp, if nothing is rusted up. Jspec Germany
Chris - Thanks for chiming in. Could you explain what you mean by "break the tapers on the hub end joints". I'm about to order poly bushes for the rear and a set of HKS coilovers, so I'll be doing all the suspension at one time.
