Loud drone/road noise - advice needed

Hi,

My car has started droning a lot, especially the last few weeks. I think it has done it for a while, but has been 'hidden' by the exhaust. Unfortunately, the drone is now louder than the exhaust :(

I was having a play on the way back from Turbofit today and found that driving straight ahead or steering to the right there's an audible noise. If I steer to the left on a long sweeping bend, or suddenly throw the car into a right/left manouvre, it disappears while the front wheels are pointing left. Possible thoughts are:

1. Wheel bearings

2. Diff

3. brake disks

I'm fitting new front disks and pads this week, so it's possible it may cure it (current ones are corroded on inside), but can anyone say what this is? It sounds like its coming from the rear, but I know that noises like this are deceptive.

cheers

J

Which direction makes the noise go away mate? That will tell you what side is nackered. If it were the drivers side then turning right should quieten the noise down as the load shifts to the other bearings.

Oops just read 1st thread properly. Sounds like one of the passenger side bearings possibly.
