SUPRALOOPY
yep check the rubber for splits or the clips are not damaged..
Soonto_HAS_soop
It almost looks like your metal clip has come off the large pat of your CV joint rubber boot. I'd check the basics if I were you, but it does look like CV joint grease.
Ric
theres not much more around there unless its just oily mud whats settled over time
DamanC
Cheers guys So if its spilt or new clips are needed is it a DIY job? Failing that what sort of costs are involved?
Steve
Noticed this on one of my rear wheels aswell when i was under the car last Saturday. Will check the boot. Are they easily replaced?
D8MOA
off the top of my head (as i havnt looked under my supra for well over 6 months) where the cv boot goes on the metal part is in two parts. i have seen some cars leak form there
M4RK RZ
front you will have to take the CV joint off - never done it on a supra but if there anything else like the car world then there will be a cir clip holding the shaft end in to the inside of the joint. Fish around in the grease and you will find the ends of the clip - Squeeze thses together using thin nosed pliers (or proper cir clip pliers) and off pops the joint. Rear is/should be easier im guessin
DamanC
Right, Its been at the garage to have a look, and i kind of quote as tbh i really havent got a clue whats going on. There is a metal sleeve that is leaking. Apparently its pressed onto the drive shaft and the boot goes over it? They think the only way to sort it is to replace the driveshaft but cannot be sure, anyone have the EPC or shed any light?
