part_timer
Just got my statement through someone has spent £216 on a coach ticket and hotel in Birmingham and Wigan... never even been there so definitely wasnt me! so i told the bank who investigated and said that both payments were made using my card and PIN which i know couldnt have happened because its still in my wallet. I just sent them a rather nice letter telling them to go ahead and get the police involved as i am definitely not paying up! Does this mean my cards been cloned? Has this happened to anyone else and what was the end result?

AndyT
Def cloned. Try to remember exactly where you've used it recently cos the police will want the info. Loads of hassle with cloning at petrol stations.
JamesG
It seems so common now. Same happened to me a few months ago, and to at least two other people in my family. And a mate told me a few days ago the same has just happened to him. I think I saw on the news a while ago that 1 in 10 people in the UK will have their credit card details stolen! Glosphil
I've had it done several times in the past, several times in short succession. I was using the M4 regularly between london and swindon, Thieving gits
DaveK
This guy had similar recently. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=104124 Sadly, yes he (I) did. Didn't get any of the details though. There were 3 transactions that weren't me, and I reported it to the police myself as well (I was told by somebody I had to do that because the credit card company needed a crime reference). The police suggested petrol stations to me, but Sainsbury is about the only one I use - and even then, only once every couple of months over the winter. They hadn't had any problems with that petrol station so I think mine was done somewhere else / some other way. The card company refunded me - no idea what they found out. Steviekid
I had a £400 bill from T-mobile on my credit card last year, never had a T-mobile phone in my life! Took about 40 phone calls and nine months for my bank to sort it out, including them accusing me of making it up. I had to go into my local branch eventually and threaten to close all my accounts there and then unless it was sorted.
Paul
Had £1700 taken the other year using my debit card, well not 'my' debit card as it was still sitting in my wallet:d Got it all refunded to my account within a few days;)
