Dave F
I have a problem with a noisy front end!!!! The front suspension seems to knock when on rough roads and when going over speed bumps it tends to creak. A car dealer once told me this is common for supras but he also told me an GZ was a non turbo!! so I thought I would ask on the forum. (It just passed an mot and they did nt find anything wrong)
tbourner
Mine creaks over speed bumps too. Dude said it was loose chassis bolts or something!
Dave F
should this have been picked up at the MOT and can anybody tell me what bolts to tighten. (p.s. Why do I have must pay now under my username)
Terminator
You get so many free post then have to pay a £10 to join up with unlimited rights. Could be your shocks For torque settings on the chassis bolts checkout he manual section on MKIV.com. If your car has had any bolts undone on the suspension whilst on a jack and then retightened while still in the air the bushes could be under excessive load causing the creaking. I had this when I got my car. Find some packing pieces to put under the front lower arm to simulate normal ride height. Jack up the car remove the wheels lower on to the packing and loosen and re-torque the top arm retaining bolt. That is a good suspect. dangerous brain
No there are a number of bolts on the front end on older cars that do work loose. Perform the old search on here and you will find the answer to that question (oh you cant cos AFAIK you have to pay up to use the search facility) You could always await one of the techno guru's wandering past and taking pity on you and telling you the exact bolts that work loose and their correct torque or you could pay your massive fee of a tenner and find out yourself. IceMan
I drove mine home "enthusiastically" last night then noticed one corner of suspension (rear-left I think) is now making a metallic creak/scrape sound occasionally instead of the deep low soft rattle that I usually get (that Toyota say is normal...). I wonder how different the Bilstein hard suspension (that I have) sounds to the stock suspension? I also guess it has something to do with having fatter tyres... Terminator
There should be no noise. I have new Billies and Ebachs and it is beautifully quiet. The quietest it has been for years.

My stock JDM rears showed no signs of leaking but one had lost the last 11 mm of damping and knocked big time. If you get is a little pull to the left driving over ditches, count your self lucky, most of us would loose the nose and rip the suspension right off :flame Dev
IceMan
My car always pulls to the left a little. I've had it aligned several times. Part of the problem is possibly that Toyota can't reach the ideal +5.0 degrees caster on mkiv.com's Lance alignment settings (they get 3.something). Whitesupraboy2
My front left makes a knocking sound when the suspension having to work over time on our bumpy roads, im sure it these loose nuts but dont have clue where they are lol My front does it slightly but not as bad,so they may be slightly tighter
