Schtuv
So I drop into a bodywork place and ask them "How much to take this dent out of my wing", and "How much to fit the new lights and bumper I have here". The dent needs to go, and I was interested in the cost of swaping the bumper and headlights, as if it was cheap I wouldn't bother trying myself. I get the quote today - over a grand! I won't name the business, so hopefully they won't mind me approximating their pricing here, but: [+] 4 hours to remove a wing and bumper? [+] 8 hours to fit a wing, headlamps, and bumper? [+] Only one hour of panelwork, but 6 of painting? [+] £250 'Paint And Materials'? Maybe I wrong, but that sounds waaaaaaaaayyyyyy excessive to me. Still - I guess that's part of the reason insurance premiums are so high. EDIT: Just re-read the quote. That's for a new wing, so I'm not sure why the quote regarding panelwork ... there's door fittings in there, too - odd given the dent is at the front of the wing, and the doors are fine. And what exactly is 'door blending'? FFS, it'd be cheaper for me to take an auto-shop repair class and do it myself. At least they offered to give it a quick wash and hoover for that price, gratis. keron
'door blending' is blowing the new paint into the door so you dont have a different shade of colour from the door to the wing. as fot the hrs to take off and put new ones one. to take a wing and bumper off for a general bodyshop should be about 45 mins max? and thats probably taking their time
toyotasuprauk
That's a lot!
Jake
[+] 4 hours to remove a wing and bumper? [+] 8 hours to fit a wing, headlamps, and bumper? That's a pisstake. 4 hours for removal and fitting combined is twice as long as it should take - MAXIMUM.
