Tricky-Ricky
With the car cold, leave the rad cap off, and start the car, turn heater controls full on, keep topping up the rad as the engine starts to heat up, you can also tap and squeeze the rad pipe to eradicate air, once the engine has got hot enough to open the thermostat, the open rad cap will be starting to put out a little wisp of steam by this point, give it a final top up and close the rad cap, run for a while and check temp, if its still overheating let it cool down and repeat. Kranz
And park the car on a steep hill/drive with the front at the highest point. This helps the air bleed out. A powerade bottle stuck in the filler hole of the rad with the bottom cut off acts as a good header tank to keep the coolant level high. Try and keep the coolant level near the top of the bottle whan degassing the system. Like this: Pic copyright of Thorin
