VIL
I have replaced the 3rd brake light for the second time and am still getting some of the LEDs not lighting up when the brake pedal is pressed. If you hold the brake pedal down then sometimes the missing lights do come on but will go off again? Why would this be happening? Is the second light I have bought knackerd also? It just seems odd that most of the LEDs come on and the ones that dont will occassionally work?

TrickTT
They are prone to dry solder joints on the circuit board (Toyota really should employ somone who knows how to solder properly) It is possible to strip them down and resolder the LEDs - I had to do mine when I first got the car. VIL
Thanks Trick, I thought it must be something like this but how did you do it? They look like a sealed unit. How did you split it?
TrickTT
Its been a while, but if i remember, there is an obvious join between the front and back of the unit which looks like it has been glued together. I cut carefully through the glue with a dremel, then re-sealed it with silicon. If you can post a pic of the back of the unit, i'll be able to tell you exactly where to cut.
