Chris Wilson
I need a stock MKIV TT Jap spec air box, can anyone sell me one please?
Branners
Leon should have a couple knocking about. btw, what is the reason for going back to stock? Is there a specific problem with a customers car that is forcing it or is it just a general thing about aftermarket filters? JB
Nic
Sorry a bit of a thread hijack. Apparently here in Hong Kong you can fail an MOT if you do not have a fixed air filter box (i.e. a cone filter) Just curious is it the same in the UK? Guest Martin F
Nope not the same. The Hong Kong test sounds like it is close to the Californian smog test.

JB Thanks John, have replied to marks offer, if that falls through will try Leon. I have a nice veilside bodied car in, with an HKS filter. i don't want it to go the same way my Skyline engine did, so am going back to stock filtration. I personally think the HKS filters are totally and utterly useless, but won't be drawn into a big "thing" about it. Some HKS stuff, IMO, is good, some crap. I feel their air filters fill the latter category :-)
Branners
Have you had the same experiences with the Blitz SUS? What would you expect to see on a car with poor filtration? Would it only become obvious when you start pulling the turbos apart? JB

My R33 gave absolute text book signes of excess wear from poor air filtration, erosion of compressor blade edges, excess bore piston and ring wear, excess guide wear. The first signs were a slow loss of grunt, which was confirmed by my doing regular leakdown tests. Then it started using oil, and puffing a bit on startup. I ended up with 2 good s/hand turbos, doing a rebore, new pistons (used forged ones whilst it was down, a bit daft as I then decided to flog it...), new guides and seals, new crank bearings et all, to make a proper job of it. A VERY dear do...
