Sat nav question

Recommended Posts

I have a version of Tom Tom on my PDA / phone that works very well but doesn't cover Europe. I know I can obtain maps for Europe for this but they don't cover all of Europe - specifically Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and Greece.

Doe anyone know of any maps available for Tom Tom that covers these countries or are there other sat nav systems available that do?

Col,

Have you tryed http://www.pocketgpsworld.com.

They have some great reviews and if you post on there (or I can do it) some one should know.

Is it just the four countries above that you want, I'll post something up either tonight or tomorrow.

Paul.

Yes Paul, it is just those over the normal ones as that can then get me to Athens before taking a ferry to Kos.

If you could find out I would be very grateful :)

You need Eastern Europe pack. This one covers:

The Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary, Greece, Slovakia, Russia, Baltic States, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia & Montenegro, Belarus, Moldavia, Ukraine, Macedonia and Albania, as well as the major road network of Western Europe.

I agree...but is that available for Tom tom and if so, where do I find them?

What version of TomTom CJ?

I usualy check here:

http://thepiratebay.org/search.php?q=tomtom

There's one here - probably for V5 judging by the date:

http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3433922/Tomtom_Eastern_Europe.zip

And a V660 that covers the major roads in those countries (but not very well by the looks of it):

What device is it on CJ?

I've looked on the pocketgpsworld site and haven't really found anything more useful then above.

The older versions of TT used to have an option like the 'About' option which showed you the version number.

I've got TT 6.02 and it doesn't....

If you need me to I can download one of the above and send it too you. See if it's what you need.

Paul.

It is on my phone an XDA 2.

My problem is, being a complete numpty in all things techy, even if you sent me a file I would not know what to do with it to get it on the phone  :(

i can do you copys off all europe maps for tt5 for a price, they would be same for tt6.

pm me if you need them

Getting the maps wasn't an issue as several members have already offered them for free :). The issue was whether the maps covered the countries that i listed earlier.

Erm....how do I check which it is?

Tap on the bottom RHS where the GPS signal strength bars are, then in the same place it'll say the version number. Tap again on that version number for more detailed info.

Ah...so if all else fails, that looks like a result. ;)

The worse part is, I will probably only ever use this once as I need it to drive to Greece where I will then stay. Afterwards, if I travel back to the UK, I will use a return plane trip.
