merckx
I've got a Nur Spec R on my TT, it's much more responsive. I took both cats off yesterday but it hasn't made that much difference, the boost has gone up from 0.9 to 1.1. I'll be putting one cat back on for the MOT. Not sure what performance increase you'll get on a NA, I would do a long search or hope someone with a NA replies. I do know that taking the cats off will make it loud! Chris Wilson doesn't think its worth doing the second on its own on an NA. Had mine fully decatted recently and it feels a bit livelier, and is very very loud with wonderful popping sounds every now and again
dangerous brain
Hmm I do have to say that replacin my exhaust with a big assed TT HKS Hyper has lost me some low end grunt. On a head to head with WSB2 it seems to be a nadge slower all the way up the speed range. Its sodding loud anyway. What exactly is a longlife exhaust when its at home can't say I have ever seen that one mentioned in here anywhere. Be very carefull about what you are quoted exhaust terms wise cos a lot of it is pure manure. (well apart from the noise side). Decats and nur specs on TT's makes such a difference cos it affects the spool up of the turbo's and increases boost pressure which obviously doesn't happen on an N/A. Seriously dood don't expect miracles from a new exhaust on an N/A. As an aside also don't expect to run on the circuit at trax with a full decat and big assed exhaust cos u wont pass noise control lol. Dave
thanks for all your comments, longlife exhausts are widely advertised in the modding mags its a custom built exhaust from s/s with a choice of 80 tailpipes i had one for my 2.2 audi coupe and found it very good .I think i will leave the first cat on and bypass the 2nd i couldnt live with it being too loud, anyway longlife ask how loud you want it and you can have a larger diameter system as well and there guaranteed for the life of the car. I will let you know on thursday what its like
