How much to replace stock UK turbos?

My car is in a garage now and they are sending my turbos to Turbo Technics in Northampton? Basically to check whether I need new ones or refurbed ones and whether its one or both gone. Being a technical ignaramus I ain't got a clue whats going on. However I have been advised that if its a new turbo it will cost £500 each and if they can be refurbed it will be £250 each and £200 plus vat to do the labour

does that sound excessive

cheers Simon

I haven't... all I have done is give the car to a chap who is allegedly a Toyota specialist who has set up his wn ( very professional looking) place in Wirral. It was nice to see another Soop getting dealt with when i was there . When I have called the female receptionist was totally knowlegeable about the Soop etc which was reassuring. Especially when one previous garage had said valve stem oil seals but they wouldn't do it and one other said head gasket and a rebore and quoted me £2000!!!!

Hopefuly this will sort it oh and an abs sensor. I don't know whether t sell the car when sorted or keep it and get someof my money for repairs out of it

I'm assuming that you replaced one turbo about 2000 miles ago and that you weren't running a Supra TT (Triple Turbo :eyebrows: )?? Now there's an idea....

now that would be awesome....1 for low down and two kicking in where the second usually comes on!!

although fabricating a manifold for that would be a nightmare

200 quid labour? For what? Not changing the turbos, surely? If someones quoted 200 labour they either have never attempted this before, or are cerebrally damaged :)

thats the price they quoted for changing the turbos. Again Chris I do not know what is expensive or not being a mechanically challenged person. Is that steep or low

Hi chris same prob here im due to change my turbos there not smoking or anything and the car pulls like a train, but i think im pushing my luck with mine though uk car they have done 130k so would like to change for piece of mind the car is bpu running about 1.15 bar boost, would like to know how much labour time i should expect for that job. Also is there a vast difference between standard and hybrid turbos in the real world of everyday driving. Sorry for so many questions and a thread hijack but it seemed like an ideal place to ask the ?'s

Your help/guidance would be extremely appreciated.

Cheers a confused chris.

£200 for labour is bloody good.

Turbofit quoted 6 hours labour to remove and refit the turbos Chris Burford for me mate, so that's circa £300 including VAT. I think it's easier to change them with the engine out!

There will be some rip-off merchants charging in excess of £600 no doubt.
