Ian W
Afternoon all My problem is thus: At the moment my audi 80 has a sony tape deck in which has a permanent live feed requiring me to manually switch it off when i get out the car. I want to fit my Alpine head unit but when i plug it in it's getting no power at all. I also want the Alpine to have an ignition feed rather than a permanent live as the Alpine takes an age to turn off manually. Ideas?
JustGav
Yup, connect one wire to the perm feed, and one to the an igntion feed. Usually the wires are red and yellow.

(or am i just blind and there is one, just can't see it?)

JustGav
Grab a multimeter and check...On the alpines, the perm feed is usually the high current feed for the onboard amp and also for the memory. The ignition feed is only to turn it on and off...

Ian W
Upon closer inspection my Alpine had spade connectors in the yellow and red wires on it's loom anyway along with a a female connector on the iso connector end for this very purpose. It was actually a piss easy job and i've no idea why i waited so long to do it. No more listening to my ipod through a 'tape adaptor' any more!!!!!
