dude
just when it goes and gets interesting it all gets deleted and i didnt even get to see it , did the skyline boys take umbridge at the fact that i noted that it takes an investment of over £100K to get in the 11's , tell me this isnt so , a friend of mine went to GT Art to pick up some bits and Gary there was saying he wished the Skyline engine was as strong as the supra , why do they feel the need to slag off the supra , i know we call em taxis and they call ours medallion mans cars but thats just good natured ribbing , i actually like lines but cant see me ever owning one , The only line i really respect is rocket ronnies as i know it gets driven every day or as near as (I know the RK car drove in to TOTB too:thumbs: ) but how the datsun boys can take the piss when all they do is throw money at the cars to just pip an old doggy stock bottom end non standalone Supra is beyond me !!! and its worth noting that they never win the handling course at TOTB and lost the top speed this year as well , i'll state now i have nothing against Skylines i just cant understand why the owners think they are the ultimate car , they arent as far as i can see they are the ultimate money drain . BUT saying that every GTR ive ever been in HAS impressed me and im allways round at SklinesRus as he's 1/2 a mile from me , so GTR boys post up some of your piss taking comments but keep em civil so i can at least read em this time Here which supra did Ron just beat ??? That one over there with the tow bar and air con going full blast Dude:flame Dev

michael
Having put that thread up to highlight that a very interesting car would be coming over here I was a little annoyed to see it removed, it was in chit chat, nobody got hurt, nobody started crying and I didn't see anyone complaining. The axe of moderation tends to fall rather quickly around these parts IMO!
Keith C
When there's a board invasion from the GTR club which is anything but good-natured ribbing, with an even more vitriolic counter-thread on the GTR board, then I don't think I was wrong in moving the thread. I did start by just closing it, but once the GTR thread was deleted I reciprocated by removing the one here.

We don't. At least I don't. They are cracking cars as supe's are too, probably the 2 ultimate japanese supercars. I don't know why people always try to compare them or treat them as rivals, as someone who's owned both, they are both fantastic cars, but good at different things. At mild tuning levels both cars provide great bang for buck, the supe is cheaper to get 400bhp from, but the GTR doesn't cost a lot more. When you want more than that it starts to get expensive but in the case of both cars they'd need different turbo's/fueling etc to go to more like 450-500. I absolutely love the supra - its a superb car, and fits the "GT" bill absolutely superbly, and looks the business. I personally think the skyline is much more of a drivers car (no doubt gonna get flamed now) but its just more chuckable with more feedback. Looks wise it looks much meaner than a stock supra, but the lines of the supe are so sweet and when you factor in the nose cones/skirts etc its just Think its time the whole Supra vs Skyline was rested, both phenomenal cars, and both supercar killers As for the other thread, it was very interesting to see what was coming over, but it just seemed to de-generate, IMHO anyway, and I had nothing to do with what happened to it. Edit: to spell phenomelonumonemom right

Wouldn't it have been better to simply remove any troublesome posts and leave the informative aspects of the original post up there with a small note to say why it had been edited? All I saw was some banter, only the input from a non paying member was in any way abusive and it was in chit chat at the end of the day. So what if the GTR boys had a thread, it's their forum and their actions shouldn't have any impact on us, it's supposed to be a free world, what happened to freedom of speech? Anyway you made your choice, our moderation opinions obviously differ, I won't post any similar threads in the future and perhaps you should look at setting up some form of approval system so that threads can be checked prior to them being put up on the public board, just to be on the safe side http://www.megaboost.co.uk/vbb/images/smilies/extra/rolleyes2.gif For the record I like Skylines, naff interiors though. albundy68
skylines and supes are both great cars. And im sure 99% of people on here and on the GTR forum would agree, the other 1% were probably the kids at school that insisted that their dad was bigger than your dad!!! mawby
This place reminds me of a school playground. Infact, when I was at school, I remember this one time when I was on the playground and had just got a foam ball from the basket to play with. I'd only had it a few minutes when a 'goodie two shoes' girl and her friends decided they wanted. They asked for it, I said no. Next thing I know the teacher is coming over to get the ball off me. The girl stood there and told the teacher I had pulled a chunk out of the ball - which I hadn't. Despite my claims of innocense, the ball was taken away from me and given to this girl. At the time I was quite upset about being called a lier and getting punished for something I didn't do.... but I got over it. As will all of you who have your posts removed on this "over-moderated" forum.

Doesn't work like that. Say we deleted some posts. I know from experience that if people are in a bickering mood then they just repost what was deleted. You also get posts up saying stuff like 'Why was my post deleted when x's over there wasn't, and x's is far worse than mine.'.

The truth is that whether valid or not, people don't like having their posts deleted, regardless of intent, it is taken personally. I got pi$$ed off when Keith got all shitty about an argument I was having, it's the absolute dictatorship that pisses people off, they have no chance to put across their view about what happened. Hence the posts afterwards about where posts went etc. It isn't nice to have a post deleted/closed/edited and I have seen some that in MY opinion shouldn't have been played about with, I guess a little more thought on behalf of the posters and the moderators would lead to a less fiction-filled environment. (btw, that isn't an attack on keith, just an example, in heinsight after I cooled down I could see his point about the posts in the thread that was closed). Roy
why don't we have the thread resurrected so that more people can actually decide whether it was worth moderating and to what degree the mods should step in. i am sure they would rather not have to step in constantly as well and we are mostly mature enough to arrive at a consensus. defamatory comments sometimes ride the thin line between free speech and forced moderation. my 2p ...
