JamesC
I tried one of them clay bars today on the Sup, first time i've used one and i'm quite impressed. If your paintwork isn't silky smooth then this will sort it out for you! Seems to give it a nice shine. Some reflection pics:

juanchan
That looks very good! I've been recommeded those clay bars by a couple of people but I've not seen many cars after they've been used, whether it's in photos or in the flesh. I'd love my car to be that shiny shiny! Homer
Wow, that looks awesome! How was your paintwork previously - any scratches, swirl marks, etc? Surely to get that sort of finish it's got to be pretty damn good to begin with...
JamesC
The paintwork was alright before, not many scratches but lots of swirl marks and a bit rough feeling in places, not sure if the clay bar gets rid of these though. After the clay bar i used Meguires Paint Cleaner which seems very good for getting rid of the swirl marks and kinda 'brighten' it up a bit. Just needs polishing now, then waxing! SupraStar 3000
WOW!! Thats like a mirror. Where did you get your Clay bar from please James? The halfrauds ones are very small. >
SteveR
Used one on mine once (Megauires "Quik Detailer" kit, bought from halfords), not that silver really shows much difference before/after - I was VERY impressed and will probably do it every year now. The paintwork felt like polished glass afterwards and a fair amound of bonded-in crap appeared on the clay bar itself, despite my Supe being kept in a garage and under a blanket! Havard
That looks terrific. My car is white and although it feels like glass now, I can't see my reflection in it like that. Very impressive mate!! H.
JamesC
I got the Meguires Quik clay from HERE dont know if its the same size as the one from Halfrads, probably is and i got the paint cleaner from halfrauds. Thats the good thing about a black car, you always get a nice shine but it does get dirty quick
SteveR
Looks the same as the pack I picked up from Halfords last year. I tried to find it again on their (Halfords) website but couldn't I wonder if they've stopped selling it?
silvershark44
Yeah i was very sceptical about what difference claying makes to the car. But omg! its so easy to do, and the results are fantastic, you really just have to try it for yourself.

Stonkin
good job there mate. I regularly use a clay bar, it keeps the paint looking lovely
Andy Supra
Will it help remove swirl marks? or is there another product that will. Whats the basic process on using the clay bar? I assume the car needs to be cleaned before hand so it's free of any dirt on the surface?
SteveR
A clay bar won't help with swirl marks. Basically wash and dry the car, then use the spray the clay bar comes with as a lubricant for the bar and just rub it all over the paintwork, turning the bar in on itself when it appears dirty. After that, I washed mine again, then added some polish and wax to protect it.
