pistonbroke
I've seen it happen on almost every tuorbcharged car, irrespective of age. When the car is being driven at full throttle, during gearchange, you get a little puff of smoke. I've seen it on, scoobys, evos, supras, including mine. (according to a mate who was playing catch up ) What is the cause of this mysterious puff of smoke.
JODY T
Could be due to the turbo seals slightly leaking with no back pressure as you change gear... Especially noticed if there are no cats atall..
pistonbroke
I would have thought the same, only I've seen it on new evos as well, and I'd imaging the turbo seals will be pretty tight from new.
Daston
unburt fuel cooking off in the exhaust?
pistonbroke
I thought that too, as the puff is always black, if it was oil, surely, it would be blue. I therefore hypothesis, when the turbo is on full boost and the engine is pumping in loads of fuel, some of which is used for cooling the pistons. when the turbo suddenly comes off boost during the gearchange, the fuel from being at full throttle is residual and causes the small puff

mental-modder
little puff of smoke is the small part of oil that burns through, or its the turbo gas release, jus throwin a little dust out
