Bought some land.

Completed today, We always wanted to buy the field next door and adjoining woodland, but the owner has always said his wife would never let him sell it. Until a few weeks ago, that was! We don't actually NEED it, but we now have total control over what comes next door, and behind us :) We have also inherited a pair of foxes with young, that have taken ANOTHER of our chickens. They need evicting. The hundreds of rabbits just need a little birth control. Lots of work to do, but it's fun and should keep me out of the pub a bit more. The dogs approve, too.

Congrats Chris, how many acres is it?

Put the dogs in the field - the rabbit population should be sorted before long ;) Better yet get some cats (probably not your thing though!).

I still have 8 acres in Webley, Hereford, there's several fox, badger and rabbit dens. The guy I have managing the place does it for free as he helps himself to the apples from the orchard and the Rabbits he shoots. Maybe you could get someone in to pick off a few of them, they'll normally do it for free ;)

It's about 12 acres, so with the 5 we have already with the house we have a total of 17. Sounds quite a bit until I visit my pal with a farm a little way off. When I once asked him, while standing by his house, which is quite elevated, where his boundary was, he just said, "As far as the eye can see".... :) We are nothing like in that league :) It's nice though, as we get on well with the guy that had our house built, and from whom we bought it, and his land adjoins our woods. We can roam his woodland too, which is another 100 or so acres with a nice lake. We can walk out the back door and just keep going for ages and never meet a soul. I used to find it quite spooky in the woods at night, but I don't give it a thought now. I can even name most of the birds and recognise some of their songs, which is pretty good for a townie who saw his first cuckoo 5 years ago :) To top it all the eagle owls are mating, which proved a somewhat noisy and inelegant affair, so Spring is definitely here!

Woohoo, been a while since I used the big guns :D

Someone will make fun of that, but not me ;), so...

Woohoo, been a while since I used the big guns :D They don't like them in Reading housing estates for some reason :innocent:

lol - Been a while since I've shot myself, used to be army barmy in the cadets so I've fired quite a few big guns in my time (I used to get sent away with various units as they saw me as army potential, but I got turned down for Welbeck which ruined it for me :( ) Going off topic, I loved the fact my school had a .22 firing range within the main building... Sort of beat my mates schools with 'a playground' :D

Congrats Chris. Too good an opportunity to miss.

Is the house opposite still up for sale?

Yes, still for sale, but I am told they won't let anyone view INSIDE, I can only assume they are trying to NOT sell it. Who knows, very odd....

You know what Vicki will say about those foxes ;)

Well, let's not tell her then :)
