Guest Geneb
ok guys i admit im a numpty when it comes to this wheel and tyre stuff. i need help on what tyres to buy that wont rub on my wheel arches when i turn the wheel. my current tire sizes are Front 225/50/16 Rear 245/50/16 and i have stock suspension not lowered these are the alloys i have bought any help would be deeply appreciated http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=106466
Ian W
To be honest, it's gonna be hard to tell but i'd go for quite a narrow tyre to fit those wheels given the offsets. will more than likely need to have the arches modified as well i would imagine. Homer
The offsets are far from ideal, they'll stick out into the wheel arch. I have a set of 18x10 with +48 offset on the rear and even these rub the arch when the suspension is compressed. Do you know the tyre size you're planning on fitting? Homer
I have 265/35 on the rear and they rub very slightly, I'd imagine with the extra 18mm yours are closer to the arch you might have some issues. Hopefully someone else with a closer oiffset to yours will be along shortly.

Ian W
Modified ahh fook:( looks like an ebay job when i say modified you'll quite possibly just need some rolling or shaving done. at worst, it's an excuse to buy yourself some veilside overfenders

Ian W
will i need paint as well as rolling? rolling can be tricky i believe as it may crack the paint. shaving is much better as it merely trims away the inside of the arch but you can't shave too much away. in short, if it works no you won't need paint. trouble is you'll only tell once the wheels are fitted and on the car. Scooter
was thinking fronts 235/35/18 rear 255/35/18 would really like to go 245/35/18 275/35/18 but think they may rub mate unlike your current tyres i think you should have a higher profile on the front ie 235/40/
Guest Geneb
any reason why scooter? wont that make it hit the wheel arches even more due to a bigger wall?
Scooter
i'm just coming from the angle of same rolling radius......... ...........stock 17's are front 235/45/17 and rear 255/40/17 ...........18's with 235/40/18 and 255/35/18 tyres are very close to the same diameter. Scooter
yes yes...but i suspect 225/50/16 and 245/50(or45)/16 again are very similar in rolling radius...........
Jake
According to http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html 225/50/16 = 315.70mm Rolling Radius 245/45/16 = 313.45mm Rolling Radius 245/50/16 = 325.70mm Rolling Radius
