SupraAyf
this 1300 pound saving imho is not worth it as your buying left overs from japan (cars that nobody bids for) and you have to ask yourself why ? Cheers Jurgen, I'm starting to get a distinct impression of what these auctions are all about now. Still, £2 for a double egg butty and a good day out is not bad eh! gaz1
another thing to bear in mind i used to buy and sell from auctions when i was younger made a tidy profit, then along comes the taxman they keep checks on places like that for people making money on the side:(
JamieP
Is this this auction that's not far from the IoW ferry? Kinda halfway between the Red Funnel hydrofoil and the Red Funnel car ferry? If so I used to got there back in 2003 when I was looking at Supras and GTOs. I never did actually by one from them but it was interesting. I might pop down next Tuesday too if you guys are going. I cant do tuesday coming now but im well up for going the following week, i want to pick up a cheap scooby and would be good to have you and Andy there to look over them aswell:)

Christ, that's cheaper than the Figaro's I have been looking at. There weren't any Scoobies at this place Jamie but all of the auction grades were mostly 4's;)
tDR
the grading are their own systems In other words, their grade 4 aint up to the same standard as a car graded in Japan with an authentic report as per my earlier attachment. Guys, it's your money at the end of the day - you have been warned! Cheers, Brian.

Guys, it's your money at the end of the day - you have been warned! Cheers, Brian. Yip! I wouldnt be suprised if most of the cars were grade OA's or 3's and are now magically grade 4's since port, I think a lot of people and under the impression that even in japan a grade 4 car is the same throughout dealerships, again not the case. Guys, it's your money at the end of the day - you have been warned! Cheers, Brian. I'm starting to get confused here guys as all of the cars had the Japanese Grading certificates as per your previous e-mail. If they do have all of the Japanese Grade-4 certification then will that normally turn out to be a forgery? I wished I had taken a camera today to show you some of the cars. One car ( Dec 2005 Integra Type R) had only 3,900km's on the clock and it was 100% brand new. I ain't being funny but that was a grade 4 too and it was the same condition as my wife's new car with 3 miles on the clock face.
lockys96
note, andy. not all the cars meet reserves. i doubt those 6speeds met them. ive watched many go through. and near standard one didnt sell at 7k. was 6speed

SupraAyf
Excellent, ill call ya next week;) Ok bud - My ZX12 ius Mot'd tomorrow so I may take one more look down with a camera to get some proof;) not all the cars meet reserves. i doubt those 6speeds met them. ive watched many go through. and near standard one didnt sell at 7k. was 6speed;) They didn't make their reserve from what has been mentioned in a previous post but the auction house today will sell you cars as a private concern. The 2 Supes today were both Grade-4's (one has been mentioned already and the other was a 96 Supra TT Auto (non-facelift) and they were both offered at 3750 and 6000 to take away. There were some minters in there. The auction house yesterday didn't quite have the same stock but there were still some very nice looking (and sounding) cars about! Guest Geneb
the grading are their own systems, most of them are dogs you might find a nice one but i doubt it. for example an auto 96 model sold for 5500 so say 6500 registered once all fees paid up etc...(and thats if car drives ok once you have it) so we base it on a good one......... then we have this gz for http://www.jm-imports.co.uk/cars_forsale_silvergz1995.htm £7800 which is 10 times the better car for £1300 more and it will be fully working and as near as possible to 100 percent as good as they come both in bodywork interior and exterior. this 1300 pound saving imho is not worth it as your buying left overs from japan (cars that nobody bids for) and you have to ask yourself why ? but am sure it will be a good day i reckon the 6 speeds will sell at these auction for around 7k but they are not the best around.. LOL you would say that though last thing you want is every member buying his own car or becoming a internet import trader.. personally i wouldn't buy from there as i like to have to piece of mind of buying from a reputable dealer. like i did with my last one from C.J. saying that though i would buy cheapo from there to flog on ebay! While I can understand why Jurgen would say this, don't you think as an importer and if these cars were really any good he would be buying from here and saving all the hassel of finding and shipping the car in himself? Some of the prices shown are so are much cheaper than the majority I've seen before they would have even left Japan let alone adding the cost of freight, *alarm bells* Like I say I've been working for an importing company and we're only over an hour away and they keep well clear because they know what goes on there. It's just a warning to people.
mr keef
I think that people will always knock cheaper cars,if those same cars were on sale from a importer at twice the price people wouldnt say boo, what it does show you imo is how much over the top us in the uk can end up paying for our imports,i went to see a guy last week about a single supe 6s manual,he imported his own car along with many freinds cars, and his exact words were...the amount of money some importers add to what the car cost them to buy from japan,is just unreal!....(not having a go at any importers from here;) )...if you know a bit about cars and have a good luck round theres no reason you cant get a fantastic deal. SupraAyf
Right guys, here are a few pics. The ZX12 passed its MOT with flying colours so I went for a trip to the auction houses again. Any way, here are the pics. The first few are of the Integra (1 of 15) which I described as new (see for yourself) while the rest are of various cars in the storage area. The supra is a Silver Grade 4 TT Auto (1996 - N reg) with about 65K km's on the clock; they want £6k and you can take it away today but you may be able to get it for £5.5K. It has HKS suspension and the interior is lovely while the engine is perfect (albeit very dusty). All Grade-4 cars with certificates! What I do in the name of club spirit:)
toyotasuprauk
Silver Supra looks fine but I'd say 6K was market price for that not so cheap it has to have something wrong with it. Integra looks very nice! How much did that go for?

RobSheffield
but £3750 compared to jm imports £7800, thats a lot of spare money for mods/repairs? You would need most of that money to repair broken and possibly dangerous faults..... But hey, as has been said you have been warned! But hey, as has been said you have been warned! disagree..if you have a clue to what you are buying then its safer than buying an over priced car from japan from an importer imho,at least you can look around it sit in it and save massive money!,i bet theres 100s of importers buying stock from there.Dont get me wrong if i was after something special then id go through an importer or could import myself. But if i was after a good deal or on a budget then i wouldnt think twice. Great post IMHO. I wonder just how many people have bought nice looking cars from dealers but have never asked where the dealer sourced his stock from. All this crap about staying away from auction sites is exactly that: CRAP!! I certainly wasn't born in a barn and I know my way round a car and these cars are in good condition!! The auction house guys let you sit in them, start them up, and then keep the keys for as long as you want in order to inspect the cars. I have a fair sized income but if I can source a good car for £7k, instead of £12k; then who is right then!! I'm not going to give my money to a dealer for the sake of £5k overcharging privilege and a shitty 3-month warranty!!

I bought a right fecker for £8k, which isn't a bargain and everything that could go wrong, pretty much has - but getting there. Like you said, it's always a case of using your best judgement at the appropriate time and I was naive when I bought mine. It looks like there's some absolute steals to be had there, but it's always worth that little extra for added purchase security - 'little' being the word though, not £5k!
