tDR
For reference, here's how an authentic grading certificate should look: They should also be providing Japanese (in Japanese) deregistration certificates which tie up with the mileage and chassis numbers. Cheers, Brian.
Conrad
I half agree with Brian but not every single one can be a dog. How much would the cheapest 6 speed TT go for on Auto Trader? 6.5k? Say you pick up a 6 speed for 4 or 5k at the auction and you´re still well under - even at that AT price. So long as you are Ok at spotting (and avoiding) accident damaged cars and are prepared to fork out a little cash for any mechanical faults - then I see no problem buying at an auction like this. Tom
You would have to be nuts to buy a car from here.
SupraAyf
Andy is there vat to pay ontop? From what I gather, the final hammer price (plus auction purchase fee) is all that you pay. i.e. If you're buying your first auction car then that's the hammer price plus £250. For all other cars you buy it will be hammer price plus £150 for the auction house. The import tax and VAT is sorted by the company importing the goods. I'll check that one out though in order to get the correct facts;)
Scooter
You would have to be nuts to buy a car from here. maybe, but at 4 a week for the last god know how many years i suspect a few of us already have, except we paid these prices + a dealers margin.............. Very good point! I bet a loads of these cars have been serviced, cleaned up marked up a few grand. Especially as it’s meant to be trade only it makes it even more likely. bkvj
very good prices then.. 3. 1994 Supra 6-Speed TT (90K) - £5000 interesting:D. register + mot is not much...both about £40. but you need a set of good tires, a fog light and an underseal to (japanese cars from some regions dont get rust as they dont put salt on the roads, which means they wont bother putting an underseal under). it depends what you can get tires for etc, but all in all should cost you about £400 (with 'normal' tires)

Jive
Hmm .. tempted to come and have a look myself, seeing as I'm only 5 minutes down the road from there, about 8 years ago I was about 20 seconds walk away What time did the auction start? (trying to remember if you posted that in the opening post ) That would be 11.00 every Tuesday then
Jake
Is this this auction that's not far from the IoW ferry? Kinda halfway between the Red Funnel hydrofoil and the Red Funnel car ferry? If so I used to got there back in 2003 when I was looking at Supras and GTOs. I never did actually by one from them but it was interesting. I might pop down next Tuesday too if you guys are going. ivan
I know for a fact that Richardson's in Winton/Bournemouth and a couple of other dealers in our area use the S'oton auctions. I spoke to the owners/forecourt guys who have told me so.
SupraAyf
That would be 11.00 every Tuesday then I got there for about 0915am and then spent the next 2 hours checking every motor (all 219 of them - well, it was my first time). I soon found that you need to be by the side of the vehicle when they are started and then follow them in to the bidding arena. If you're quick (I was) then you can check the engine, interior, oils and lubes etc etc). The cars are parked there for up to 6 days without being moved so if your car starts straight away then you can be sure that you haven't got a right dog:innocent: Quite a good experience to be honest. SupraAyf
After just reading Jake's post, I now have this stirring vision of the auction site at Southampton next Tuesday: There will be 20 dealers and 150 Supra Forum guys next to the burger stand:innocent:
Jive
Is this this auction that's not far from the IoW ferry? Kinda halfway between the Red Funnel hydrofoil and the Red Funnel car ferry? There's nothing between the two locations .. oh and btw the hydrofoils stopped being used about 8 years ago and are now catamarans Red Funnel Here If you look at where Red Funnel is located and then look to the right, and find Central Road, it's just at the start of that road. Jive
Quite a good experience to be honest. That's all I'd be going for anyway, wouldn't be buying but I've never been to a car auction Depending on work commitments I will hopefully see you there

mr keef
I couldnt believe how cheap 6speed supes and gtr skylines etc etc etc went for in japan auctions.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
the grading are their own systems, most of them are dogs you might find a nice one but i doubt it. for example an auto 96 model sold for 5500 so say 6500 registered once all fees paid up etc...(and thats if car drives ok once you have it) so we base it on a good one......... then we have this gz for http://www.jm-imports.co.uk/cars_forsale_silvergz1995.htm £7800 which is 10 times the better car for £1300 more and it will be fully working and as near as possible to 100 percent as good as they come both in bodywork interior and exterior. this 1300 pound saving imho is not worth it as your buying left overs from japan (cars that nobody bids for) and you have to ask yourself why ? but am sure it will be a good day i reckon the 6 speeds will sell at these auction for around 7k but they are not the best around..
