cheekymonkey
Hi Guys 1996 TT6 - Mileage about 57k. Last service done at a garage in Feb. I am planning my first bit of work on the car. Basically, I will be giving it a nice service and swapping the plugs for colder ones ready for BPU. I am making a list of things I'll need, however I am unable to come across a definite list on here of what I should replace and when (apart from Fluids) Oil - 10w50 - Silkolene Pro S Oil Filter - Don't know, standard Mr T? Plugs - Denso Iridium - IK24 Fuel Filter? No idea. Do I need a new one? How hard is replacing the fuel pump? If it's not that big a job I'll do it at the same time. Please point out anything else I should be doing. Thanks!
Sheefa
Go for an OEM or TRD Oil Filter from Gaz @ Envy mate. 10w-50 is a good choice and Silkolene is what most members seem to use. Always worth renewing a fuel filter if you don't know when it was changed when going BPU. Other parts needed if you want to: Radiator Coolant - Red Toyota4Life Brake Fluids Tranmission Fluids Power Steering Fluids New Pads/Disks? PM oilman for prices of transmission/brake oils etc: see here: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=56684 I don't think you should switch the plugs UNTIL you are actually BPU iirc as it may cause a misfire - someone else with more knowledge will confirm. Fuel pump is actually surprisingly easy to change. There was a video MKIVstore put up a while ago that was easy to follow. Not done it myself but would happily give it a go. Can't be as bad as the previous owners shite-assed attempt anyway! Located under the spare tyre. Greg
toyotasuprauk
Last done in Feb does it need doing again so soon?
Sheefa
Last done in Feb does it need doing again so soon? True. Oil and filter change every 3000 miles though and worth knowing for the future anyway

Noted re the plugs - I will probably order a set anyway, as I am so close to BPU anyway. I just need to get the soldering iron out and fit an FCD. Are any of the other jobs you listed there garage-only ones? I have never changed gearbox oil before, but am a competent home mech. I guess I just lack "special" tools. cheekymonkey
Last done in Feb does it need doing again so soon? Indeed, but I don't know what Oil was used, or what else was done... I'd just quite like to start from a known baseline from when I own the car. See your point though
Chris and Alana
I got recommended 5w40 silkolene pro S from oilman for my TT, it has about 50,000miles. I think if you put colder plugs in now before you increase the boost they dont get up to their operating temp and can foul up eaier causing a missfire, best to put them in as soon as your boost is sbove 1bar I would guess. I used NGK BKR7EIX (iridium plugs) and they work perfect for me
