VIL
Has anyone got any recomendations for getting TV signals around the house? I have recently put a LCD TV in the bedroom but have no coaxial socket to plug it into. I have been looking at TV/Video senders but dont know how good they might be, plus some forums suggest they might mess up your wifi? Experiences or recommendations please
SBDJ
Personally I've found those wireless video senders to be fairly crap, they use the same 2.4GHz frequency range as 802.11b/g and whilst they can be configured to different parts of the range I never got a clean signal with them. Mainly because there are that mainly b/g wireless networks within range Other devices such as the microwave and my DECT phone also screwed them up. My neighbours also commented that they had been having wireless problems - struggling to connect, dropouts etc... which went away when I turned them off. I was using 802.11a, so was unaffected... lalalalala... Of course, others experience may vary
DaveK
I used to have one - and 90% of the time it gave a good clear picture. The other 10% you would get massive interference - but could correct it by moving parts of your body. However - it's true that it screws up wireless. I had to unplug it whenever I wasn't upstairs watching TV. I got Sky multi-room instead. One other thing to be aware of - I work with somebody who also used to have one of the TV sender things. They found that when used with an LCD TV the signal just wasn't good enough - it really showed the difference between CRT and LCD and it was pretty much unwatchable. Pot
Get an additional ariel for each room you want to do, then just run the cable down the outside of the house, and in through the window...
Digsy
I've got three things to say about the wireless senders: They're shite, shite and shite. I spent over £300 on an LCD for my bedroom, built a gizmo that would allow me to control my whole home cinema setup from upstairs and then joined everything together using a wireless sender. Just because I couldn't be arsed to run a cable. Big mistake. I used the bedroom TV twice in two years simply because the picture quality was so bad. In the end I ran a cable while I decorated the lounge. Now I use it all the time
