Sqeaky front brakes, Even after changing discs...

Ok..I had my brake pads changed a few months ago because they needed changing and were squeeking so much...even after they were changed they were squeeking even more!! I kind of ignored it and though maby it was something to do with them being new pads....

Anyway I recently had a mechanic look a them and I was told that the front disc had been damaged and that the surface was not even...Which COULD cause squeeking and rumbling of the steering wheel when braking...

So the other day I had the brake discs changed...Got some 3g grooved disc....I had a different mechanic change the discs and he confirmed the old discs wer uneven and needed changing and that the new pads were fine...

For the first few miles there was no squeeking noise :), but soon after the noise has come back and seems to be going back to how it was before :(....the shaking steering wheel has stopped and the car stops alot more smoother and sooner...However what can be causing the squeeking noise?

What I was thinking is that the pads got used to the uneven surface on the old discs and kind of shaped themselves accordingly as they wore in, so even though I have the new discs the pads are still uneven and will take some time to wear in and smoothen out......But if thats the case why were they not squeeking for the first few miles when they were fitted?

I was also thinking that maby I just need to put some of that copper stuff on them...but again why was there no squeeking when they were first fitted?

BTW they ONLY squeek when I am braking...they dont squeek whilst I am moving.

What can be causing this squeeking?...its driving me crazy Iv never said squeeky this many times before.

I have standard stock replacement pads....they are not original Toyota OEMs...They are NON Asbestos if that makes a difference.

HELP!!!

Do you have the anti-squeal shims fitted? Some copper slip on the shims sometimes helps too.

Im not sure If I do...If its the shiny metal plates then on one side it has it but on the other it doenst..the squeaking still comes from both sides however

If not where can I get them from?..are they supposed to come with the pads?

By "one side has it" do you mean one side of the car, or one side of each caliper?

If you cannot get shims, load the pads up with some copper grease, taking special care not to contaminate the braking surfaces.

I mean as in the front brakes squeal....with the old brake pads I had they didnt use to do it...its mainly since I had the new ones fitted that it really started...I think im going to try changing the pads to standard OEM ones anyway, im popping down to toyota to pick up a few parts..The pads I have produce to much brake dust compared to before....If that fails I will lub it up with copper grease like you all said

I got some copper grease spray and sprayed it onto the back of the brake pads ), as I didnt take wheel off I only managed to put it on the outter side and had to be careful not getting it on the disc itself.. Anyway it seems to have got rid of 80% of the squeeking....Im quite happy with that...going to take it down to my mechanic now so he can take the wheels and pads off and apply the stuff properly onto the back of the pads and calipers...

cost about £5 from halfords in a bottle..good stuff..

I recently took my Supe to the garage a couple of times to sort out a really annoying brake squeal (front brakes). They couldn't find anything wrong, but after disassembling, re-greasing, and re-assembling the squeal went away (and so far hasn't returned!). Cost £70 though (£5 grease and 2 hours labour!).
