Nick
Dont Japan make there own Whiskey , if so is it any good ?? I haven't tried too much of it, but what I've had I've liked. They like their whiskey here. I'm starting to drink more Sake and Shochu too. Need to be careful with Sake though, it goes down far too easily and you suffer the next day ! Thorin
Last bottle I had was Ardbeg Ultimate, Isle of Islay single malt... bit of an acquired taste that one. Most of the Glen's are nice. As for Bourbon, Woodford Reserve is my fav at the moment.
tbourner
JD!! I don't know the difference, I know that the only Whiskey I've tried is Teachers and Bells and they both made me blow chunks (sorry Chunks), are they Scotch? What's JD then? I'm assuming mentioning Southern Comfort will result in being called a nancy fairy southern twat or something?

Alex
Yuk it's all gross. LOL, you soon get a taste for it. I've tried telling my better half that, but she still refuses to swallow.... On topic - JD for me...
JustGav
Bells is a blended whiskey, my dad drinks it as his everyday tipple diluted with water, the proper single malts he doesn't even tarnish with an ice cube...
tbourner
What's the difference between blended and single then? How are they made? Maybe I should splash out on a bottle of something a bit better and see how it goes! My brother bought me a bottle of Thai whiskey back and that was quite nice! However had a binge and drank a litre bottle a few years ago and made me erm well ill no suprise. Now the hint of a sniff makes me feel sick

Thorin
Jack Daniels is appalling, Jim Beam is much nicer, but even that is at the lower end of the bourbon spectrum. and I'd rather drink dish water than Bells!
Nick
My brother bought me a bottle of Thai whiskey back and that was quite nice! That should only be drunk at 4am after a night on the Singha whilst you're struggling not to fall off your stool

Gaz Walker
Suntory make some excellent Whiskey's - I tried a 30 year old malt at the airport last time (was £300 a bottle IIRC!) was top notch.
Tom S
Hey Tom, it's good to know we still agree on things that matter. As with the Gin, the same applies. PM me. You going to DB? Dalmore and Belvenie are two of my favs. sorry no to DB or Ring!!
SimonB
I'm a Glenmorangie man myself, probably offend the purists but I like the golden rum and port cask stuff. Can't stand Jim Beam or JD, horrible stuff. It's filtered and they still manage to make it taste grim.
Bob
I've decided to try and expand my collection of Whiskies. To that end, I have started getting rid of the youner one Got rid of the last few drops of my Old Pultney 17yo, Glen Moray, and now finishing off the Old Pultney 12yo (which, strangely enough, is better than the 17yo) hic
Jspec Germany
My brother bought me a bottle of Thai whiskey back and that was quite nice! Was it orange and yellow? Mekong...? good with coke.
Bob
Was it orange and yellow? Mekong...? good with coke. I loved the Mekong when we were out there for our honeymoon, brought a couple of bottles back but they didn't make it past new year's eve! QUOTE] Because this is a scotch thread, I'm gonna let that go. However, to say JD is appalling could get you a right flogging. Try Jim Beam on ice with a bit of apple juice. Sounds bad, but quite good. Italian friend turned me onto it.
Jspec Germany
Oooh, may have to speak to you about getting a bottle then... I've only ever found two bottles and they were a limited edition and set me back a fair wack, but then my dad and I only have a small drop on special occasions (Needless to say it is the only time I touch alcohol) What do you pay on avg for a bottle of Glenfiddich 30? tbourner
Was it orange and yellow? Mekong...? good with coke. Think it is orange and yellow yeah. He also bought back a lot of Kimchi from Korea, but no Shochu.
