jamesmark
Drove the car for the first time in 4 months, whilst driving to and from test centre there was strong smell of exhaust gases in the car although not constant. Now apart from checking the actual exhaust underneath to make sure there is no escapes there, where else should I check and what is the causes of it. Been told that it could be just the car burning off all the muck because it has been standing a while. At the moment I have not checked anything so a bit of guidance is required. AndyT
If you had the vents open it'd be coming from the engine bay mate. Easiest to check too. Hope it's an easy fix for you.

Even had vents closed and fan off, and still had the smell, although not far vent next to passenger window as was driving and forgot about it when i got the test centre. As said its not all the time I would even go as far to say it was only maybe something like 2% of the journey but enough to know that it has never happened before and to think thats not right. AndyT
Blast. Not easy then. Have to check all the joints, pipng etc. for a blow, which'll be hard as you haven't mentioned change in car sound. Probably have to wait for to warm up too, in case of expansion opening it up. Sorry man.
