imi-7
Well I have gone and done it. Am replacing my boot rubbers and the screws turned a little and became stuck. Any advice on how to get the little beggars out - not much thread left on the screw head as I f'ed them up by trying to turn them? Cheers
heckler
same happened to me, I ended up driling them out.
michael
Did you heat them first to soften the loctite?
imi-7
Balls !! Looks like I may have to visit the local garage in that case. Before I do is there any other way ??

markrzs
I used a soldering iron to heat the glue around te top of the screw then tapped the head with a rubber mallet. Came out no problem. Good luck and take it easy:)

imi-7
I'm gonna try to make a slit across the screws carefully with a hacksaw, so i can use a straight edge screw driver. Then after heating the screws, I will attemp to screw them out. Wish me Luck and thanks for the advice peeps ! One question - do I need to put loctite back in with the new screws? neil tt
I'm not sure but is it not possible to get a pair of mole grips on them, and just undo them:search:
imi-7
Will give the mole grips a try first before being let loose with the Blow Torch !!
Jiversteve
Soldering Iron is probably best trick to heat them. Blowtorch may damage paintwork if you are not careful. Drill them out carefully if not central they still might not come out. If they come out run an M4 (I think, but could be 5) tap through the thread to remove any other debris. Use stainless steel screws to replace the old, Socket head screws are probably best but, stainless is softer than steel so a drop of antiseize may be worth while if you want to get them off again. I managed to get nuts on the back of mine but tie string to the spanner. Its the only way you will get it out from inside the wing if you drop it! Rob
He's only removing the boot rubbers, why would the inner wings be exposed? Good general tip though. I'd heard that a former colleague architect lost his mobile phone between two inner and outer membranes of the gold onion domes at the Southall Temple. Something for future archeaologists to ponder over.
markymark
Just cut the old boot rubbers away so it exposes the screws then use the mole grips to remove them
