Charlotte
Story here I have to say I'm very impressed with the sailors etc that were captured. Considering the amount of stress they've been under they are a tribute to our forces (the youngest one was only 20). I still can't understand why Iran did what they did, what were they hoping to achieve from it all? What will be Britain's reaction now, can we afford to go to war with another country and is it even an option?

chilly
Theres no way we'll go to war over this. We dont have the manpower for it what with Iraq and Afghanistan. It'll all be forgotten soon. It does give the Americans an excuse though, and lets face it they dont need much!

imi
Its a proporganda war on both sides......not sure who to believe. The fact is that like Saddam the iranians have been selling THEIR oil in Euros and not in American Dollars, this is obviously pissing the yanks off - pissed them enough to invade Iraq - guess the Iranians are next. Any country without Nuclear power (and OIL rich) is at risk.....so you can see why the Iranians are desperate to get hold / develop this capability... Mike
Like Bush has been searching for a reason to start something with Iran.. and they offer this up on a plate?! I'm sure this will run and run.. the press are hounding for all the gory details to make the most of it all.. I'm bowled over with the professionalism of the service men and women.. I have massive respect for the way they handled the whole thing.. That young guy was heart breaking to watch in the press conference.. so bloody brave, the lot of them.. I'd have shit bricks and told them everything! *Huge* respect for our forces

Difference is, that bunch of religious fanatics are more likely to press red button, than yanks or even russians.
ChrisSZ
What we don't know is what deals have been made "behind closed doors". A lot of posturing went on and no-one in the real world believes the Iranian viewpoint anyway. Parading the poor buggers in front of the TV like that was a political slap on the arse to Britain and a way of causing humiliation. No-doubt there were several deals made and I doubt all the cards are on the table yet!!

Fifty
If Regan was still in power I'd argue with you on that point:blink: It will never get that far the Israelis will nuke em soon if they dont give up their aspirations. They already have well laid plans to use tactical nukes on their enrichment bunkers. Mr A is probably on the way out anyway; in 2 years hell probably be working here as a bus driver - he looks like a bus driver ; either that or hell be on benefits anyway lol Rich

Fifty
And this is what exactly other side want you to believe... and you believe it... LOL you guys can believe what you want - Im will keep my faith with people who stand for truth and my ideals ie us Brits, for fair play and reasonable behaviour; I will not be swayed by the powers in the world right now who try to destroy MY society - you know who I mean; tbh I dont give a flying fuck what some of you preport to believe in everyone in the free world know for sure who the current shit stirrers are. Fly the flag - the Union Jack that is, and if you want to live here DO THE SAME or go stir the shit somewhere else. You might fool some of us but not all of us and rest assured the crunch is getting ever closer. Rich
