paulfurn
Hi guys, Im getting a Clifford IntelliGuard 950 plus remote start fitted to my new supra shortly. Ive asked for a turbo timer, though the place that's fitting it advise that it isnt a clifford unit. They advise the turbo timer is a relay they will contruct (for £50), and not an actual device (which is circa £100)? The theroy is that I just activate it when I get out of the car, and after a minute the enigne will stop as it should. My question is, is this a reilable way to go instead of buying an actual unit (like a blitz?). The only thing that worries me is that if the relay fails, it will be a pig to replace, though if a seperate turbo timer device fails it should just be a case of unplugging the old fromt the ACC Out and replacing it with a new! But hey, Im no expert in this and that suggested way may be the correct way of going about things! Im really a bit lost here, I havent even got my Supra yet so Im unsure of connections and electrical wiring etc (Im blind as far as this goes!), so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated Paul. Steve W2
My turbo timer is done from the Clifford and I have had no problems with it what so ever. Just a button you press on the key fob. The relay should be very easy to replace if thats what they use. The £50 cost will be mainly made up of their time to fit it, which is probably OTT anyway:) Depends if you want to eb able to adjust the time or not, you cant easily do that with the Clifford, but you can with most of the aftermarket versions. Mine is set at 45 seconds and as I said, no problems at all.
Dale B
Personally I think theyre robbing you mate. I had a relay added to my concept 600 and the guy did it for free coz, and I quote... " they only cost a few quid". If youre paying them to install a 950 and wanted a turbotimer relay Id insist they did it included in the price or Id go elsewhere. BTW on the old G4 system the intelliguard units werent thatcham approved, it was only the concept series that were thatcham. It may have changed for the G5 series but it may be worth the question if its thatcham youre after.
Steve W2
He he nice avatar Boneyard:p They fitted mine for free when installing my concept 300, he did try and fob me off saying they normally charge £50 though:eek: A simple relay would cost you about a £5 if that. paulfurn
Thanks for the advice guys. Ive cancelled the install and am now going somewhere where I know is good and reputable, and who will be a wee bit more upfront. Many thanks for your help
Matt Harwood
There weren't any Intelliguard models in the G4 range. The 950 is definatly a Cat 1.
