N2O Direct Port 150BHP shot

Hi,

I ve heard some negative comments on going with the direct port and shooting 150bhp into my engine. Some people were saying that the standard manifold would not cope with such a huge inrease. But... I ve done it and everything seems fine. The kick is really crazy. Estimated powet at about 600bhp.

Need to dyno it yet, but feels amazing.

Hmm, flowing 600bhp of zorst gas out the stock manifold through the stock turbo housings would make me watch the boost gauge and the EGTs verrrry closely - what are these two values reaching under sustained acceleration...?

Boost at 1.3 Bar max, and EGT at about 760C.

Is that bad.>?

the think about nitrous is that you only use it for a few seconds so even if it gets a bit high, its just for those few seconds.

Oh, and I have had this on for more than 2 months now, and.... all is well.

what about the yellow cortina he runs a 300shot.

2 great big bottles in his car.

i been told you have to know the pressure of the nos and fuel pressure too. lots of things you can get for nos install

bottle warmers, purge kits

is the direct port the best setup with a progressive controller?

Most nitrous kits seem to be based around spraying the gas at around 900-1000 psi. There can be a big difference in power dependent on bottle pressure.

For instance I know one fella who sprayed a 50 shot on his MR2 in the US with a bottle pressureof 1300psi ... lol ... he gained about 100hp and 160lbs of torque :D

As an indicator, the highest pressure I recorded at TOTB this year in my MR2 was about 800psi (thats without using a bottle heater). Worth investing in the rest of the toys though to ensure you get optimum performance from what your spraying
