garetheves
Just sold my old Dyson on eBay. Winning bidder is a guy from Germany who pays straight away with paypal but in the payment he asks for the hoover to be sent to a UK address that belongs to: Dyson Recycling Ltd, Unit 13 Cradlehill Industrial Estate, Seaford. BN25 3JE So im thinking that its his company and he buys old hoovers and sells em on. fair enough. Only problem is that his eBay ID and details (address etc) dont match his paypal address and name. Now i know that on its own doesnt mean much but i must admit im finding it all a bit suspicious. What should i do? Send the hoover or give him a refund and either relist it or offer it to the person with the 2nd highest bid?
garetheves
And on another note, if i was to send them it would be via a courier, what would be my comback if anything went wrong. Like if i sent something recorded with royal mail then its easy to prove that i sent it, is it similar with couriers??
Robert
I noticed his ID was private aswell, i bloddy fell asleep as i was watchig it lol. Robert
Well you can't check his history but you could email him and ask him a few more questions if you like? just be careful about people on ebay who pay via paypal but once you have sent the item out reverse payment then your stuck. garetheves
can you not just wait till the payment clears then send it~? Even after it has been cleared into your bank account the buyer can withdraw the payment from paypal. Paypal just let them and take, in this case, 87 quid out that you then have to pay back. Its a right pain in the arse. No protection from the seller whatsoever. I dont normally use it on eBay now, i ask for a cheque but forgot when setting up this auction. Havard
Gaz, just fook it all off nad sell it to Robert. If someone shafted me for £8 nevermind £80 I would be on the warpath. Considering you probably won't find him to beat him up I wouldn't risk it, but thats just me mate!! H.
R3DG3CKO ROB
Withdraw the sale and report it to Ebay - chances are the people at the UK address have got hold of the german guys user details... even if he is genuine, it breaks the Ebay rules and you'd be liable... the ebay address and the paypal address have to match... chilly
I thought e bay rules were you had to go through with the deal once the winning bidder had paid? You should never send item until the money has been payed which if done through paypal is instant. Once you have the cash he cant take it back unless you refund it. If you send it through royal mail they give you a receipt with the post code on for proof of posting. IMO as long as you have your money then no problems. But with paypal, the buyer can request the money back if it was done illegally. Paypal just give them the money back and its up to you, the seller, to then pay paypal back. So if for example someone used your card to buy something, you would contact your card issuer who would contact paypal to get the money back. Cant send through royal mail as i bit big, hence why it was going to be a courier.
garetheves
Hmm maybe it is legit after all. Hes now offering to send a cheque instead. Says he always uses the UK eBay to buy things and the english address he gave is some friends who ship everything for him.

Angarak
Bear in mind that whilst a cheque may look 'cleared' in your account after 4 days, it can still be cancelled within 10 days of your putting it in (I think its 10 days, best check with your bank). I've heard of numerous tales of people who have sent an item once the cheque 'cleared' in their account, only to discover that the cheque was later cancelled shortly after that and ended up out of pocket. It's unusual for a German not to speak the basics. And how does a non-English speaking German communicate with his 'friends' in England to have stuff shipped to him from UK to Germany? Why not have you just ship to him direct??? My g/f speaks perfect German, she can translate for you if you ask him to 'spechen sie Deutsch' to you
