Water feed hoses for BL 67DBB

Jake

Recommended Posts

I've asked Terry to get me a BL 67DBB so I guess I'm going to need the hoses for the water feed and return.

Can anyone tell what exactly I need to get and where from?

Hopefully I can sort it all out ready for when the turbo turns up.

Thanks for any help.

What about the guys who have already fitted these? You guys must know what's needed.

I'm also wanting to know what I need to do to fit them.

And isn't there something I need to do to the oil feed? I think the DBB turbos need a restrictor in the oil feed or something, don't they?

Yeah the oil feed needs a restrictor, as they need a lot less oil.

Ian's away all week, so can't ask him about the rest.

The BL dbb turbo will come with the oil restrictor pre-fitted.

The BL water feed kits are horribly expensive, you could make up your own for a fraction of the price. Even with that you'll still need to do the fabrication on the water neck.

I've got the parts list and pics from my setup if that helps? Thinkauto stock everything you'll need.

That would be great D - cheers.

Do you mean make your own up with ThinkAuto parts?

Yep.

I've just scanned in the drawing I made for the water feed and return. I don't have the part numbers to hand, but if you give ThinkAuto the names in the list they will be able to identify them easy enough.

-8 might be overkill though, -6 is what most used (it'll be much cheaper too!). I think mine ended up around £90 for the lot, -6 would be around £70.

There's plenty of pics of the install on my build up thread (though I am in the process of changing the water feed to the one in the diagram).

The only 'issue' I had with this setup were:

1) Clearance between the water neck and intake tube/air filter (Should be okay on yours with the 'clocked' turbo position)

2) The 90deg aeroquip fiting connecting to the turbo to the water return hose fouls on the compressor housing, so has to be routed slightly above or below it. See photo. I guess with your setup you could add another -8 female/male connector between the aeroquip fitting and the male/male adaptor to space it out more

3) It might be better to use a 60deg fitting on the water neck rather than 90, this will bring the hose away from the intake tube.

No problem Jake, hope it helps.

A guy had one for sale here a few months back, he wanted £180 2nd hard, that was apparently much less it cost him. I bet Terry could get it for less but I doubt it'll beat the DIY price.

Put it this way, the BL Oil kit costs £120 even at Terry's prices, Thinkauto could make the same for £50. (no complaint at Tel, but it shows what a premium we pay for the convenience of having a ready made kit)

I used 45 degree fittings on the end that goes to the turbo, not 90, that should sort that one out.
