tbourner
I played GT4 yesterday, still can't see any game that is as realistic (handling wise)! Driving round Midfield in the AC Cobra with all the aids turned off!!! I beat the DB9 that it put me up against as well! TDU I've played on the 360 and it's a good laugh, I might buy it for the PS2, but it's not realistic.
Ark
Single Player I liked Forza, but it was rubbish on xbox live, because nerds would spend so long on their setups that people who just wanted to play would get left behind. So multiplayer I would vote for PGR2 - no modifications meant an even playing field.

JamesG
The ultimate racing sim has to be Grand Prix Legends on the PC. It was made in 1998 (I think) and simulates the 1967 F1 Grand Prix season. This was the year before the cars had wings, so there's no aerodynamic downforce, yet the cars are stupidly powerful. The physics is fantastic and the cars feel on a knife-edge as they corner! It supports DirectX and force-feedback steering wheels with a patch.
SupraJames
Umm have to say the GT series on the Playstation, but also a huge fan of the Project Gotham series, just a severe lack of a Supra in the 3rd. Forza was awesome with the whole engine swap ability and could make some great looking cars, looking forward to the 360 version soon. Another game I liked but it never really took off was Auto Modillista on the PS2, a cel shaded racing game with big names in it, HKS, Trust, TRD, Wings West etc etc. The need for speed series is ok but NFSU2 is still the best and I still play it today. Snooze
LIVE FOR SPEED Best driving game. Ever. By a country mile. There's a fantastic comparison of driving simulations on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_racing_simulators
Thorin
LIVE FOR SPEED Best driving game. Ever. By a country mile. There's a fantastic comparison of driving simulations on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_racing_simulators I agree, really need a proper force feedback steering wheel to get the most out of it though. That netKart Pro seems pretty advanced going by the comparisons on there. I did download the demo and it seemed like it might be pretty good but you're basically limited to driving a circular test track with one basic car so hard to get a feel of the game. AndrewOW
For me its Burnout 3 Takedown (PS2) Burnout 4 Revenge (PS2) Colin McRae Rally (PS1) Virtua Rally (PS1) Need for Speed (later games PS1/PS2) GT3 (PS2) Unrealistic tho, as you can't damage the cars. But for sheer speed delight you can't beat the WipeOut series. Get it right, and there's nothing like it.
