Shes home at last

Wifelet drove to Ikea today. Bournemouth to Croydon, not too bad a journey for someone whos been driving for 15 years...got there at 10.30 this morning, found it fairly easily albeit after a wee detour. She left Ikea at 2.45, just came in through the door about 15 minutes ago:d

East is now West, Kent is next to Dorset, maps of London should have Wimborne on them and Its all my fault because my sons bedroom here is a mess even though he doesnt actually live here, hes at Uni.

I just gave her a kiss and told her to get my dinner on, I've been sat here for hours starving.

On Monday, my g/f had to drive to Luton airport. Pretty simple - M3, M25, M1.

She called me to say she had "missed the junction" and was now on the A40 going towards Harrow. No dear, you didn't miss the junction - you came off about 4 junctions too early. I then had to nagivate her back onto the M40 towards the M25 (not easy when you're sat at your office desk).

Apparently, she got lost twice more - got to the M1 but didn't turn off at the airport junction, and then got lost between the junction and the airport.....

Why did she go to Bristol, isn't that closer?

And why didn't you make the tea, shame on you.

Bristols near Wales which is 'a long way away'. Londons just past Winchester. Mobile phones only work when you have them with you / are charged / have credit on them etc....I would hazzard a guess that SatNav in her car would make things a lot worse.

Me make the tea ? What are you like:d

My mum had to take a trip round the M25 just on at 29 and off at 27. So she came back on the M25 and went all the way round it and wondered why it seemed longer to get home.We got her a simple little garmin, programed all the places she needed but it did take a few intesive courses to explain how to mount it on the window, switch it on etc

My sister once went to Hastings. To get back to Worthing she was told "Drive with the sea to you left and you'll be fine".

Several hours later there is a phone call. She has no money and has run out of petrol. I offer to go and get her. Turns out she's actually made it to Ramsgate!

Then there was the time when all she had to do was drive from South London to Worthing. We'd done it hundreds of times as kids (with our parents) but the little matter of a detour around some roadworks and she rings me from some country garage out near Salisbury! The reason: the detour had taken her right and there were no left turns!

Luckily she can cook or she'd be useless.;)

So not only has she had a nightmare journey, she comes back to mess and no dinner. Who is she living with, a 15 yr old? :D

:) Ok, I lied....I was really worried about her, and made her feel like a princess when she came in the door. I had to laugh about the map though....what a spud buying a map in Purley and finding out that the map only covered as far out as, well, Purley:d

Was it a local shop for local people??? :D

A female friend once got onto the M25 intending to go one junction but went the wrong way, so instead of coming off and going back she carried on all the way round :Pling:

When I first came to live dahn saaf from Northumberland, I spent a good hour driving around Southampton looking for Soton.

Farnham and Fareham used to confuse the hell out of me too.

And I have conclusive proof that the Isle of Dogs is actually a few miles south of Southsea:)

Man makes my mrs sound ace. She held her own against various waspish caterfields on the race track and wantonly detroys boy racers at lights in "our" car (funny how it became our car after she destroyed a 911 in it on the motorway unitl then it was "that bloody car of yours that soaks up all of our money")

Also if it wasn't for tom tom I would have to put up with the huge embarrassment of being navigated by mrs (something else she is irritatingly good at)

That really confuses me on the M27 when it signs for Alton. It's miles away!

I vividly remember my first solo drive after I passed my test :)

made a mix tape with some classic tracks for the 20 min journey to Cambridge and enthusiastically jumped into my mums escort, on with the shades and off I go...

I sat at the junction at the end of our road for nearly 4 mins as It was only then that I realized I've never found my way anywhere and didn't have a clue whether to turn left or right :)

I guess it happens to us all...

my wife made me worry tonight when i watched her try to take off the aerotop with all the screws undone except the passenger side front i told her and she still lifted the tried to force it i went mad out the window then the cheeky cow had the nerve to tell me to shut up so i unleashed some verbal fury out the window at her and to top it off tonight i sat down at the PC to find that the USB extension isn't working and i remember yesterday she said i cant bluetooth songs to my phone so i had a look at the back of my PC and there was the bluetooth device and the socket now doesn't work so i am going to rip into her about that tomorrow i wouldn't care but she has already bust the 2 usb ports on the front of the tower :banghead: shes getting bloody annoying now.

i love her really but she knows how to press my buttons to make me flip with minimal effort

Er, yes, it IS miles away:)

Trivial, but theres a new road just been built alongside our offices at Tower Park (Northern outskirts of Poole) and theres a signpost on saying turn right for Alderney and Roscoff:confused:

:D Yeah but why do they sign it going that way when it's on the A3 the other way. :search:

:) Are you talking about the sign for left-hand turn off for Alton on the M27 Eastbound at Funtley ?

The one that takes you back round under the motorway and north up the A32 to Alton ?
