Rear Pad Question

VIL

Recommended Posts

Is this a trick question?

Change them before they're worn out, or if the discs are very worn and have ridges around them, change them before that ridge starts to contact the pad backing plate.

I just changed my rear pads and there was only 1.5 - 2mm on them, but I had known for a while that they were due..

:) no trick question LOL

I am going to put new discs on the rear and just want to know what depth of wear material they come with new, or whats the minimum depth before they need changing.

The current pads have only been on the car for about 8-10 months but am undecided if I need need to put new pads on when I change the discs?

Cheers Merck

Another quick question, whilst I am having them done is it worth putting on a new set of hand brake shoes?

To be honest I have had the car for about 5 years and still on the same rear discs. I have no idea how and when these should be changed?

They don't get that much wear , I would have a look first.

For the discs there's a minimum thickness you should let them go down to, I think it might be stamped on the edge or it might be in the manual.

I changed them on mine because they were unevenly worn with grooves and they didn't look too good.
