merckx
Looking for the vacuum pipe to plumb my boost gauge into. I've already looked on the mkiv.com site. I've got a VVTI TT Here's the pic of where I think it should go, can someone please confirm this for me. Boost VVTI The same Vacuum pipe is shown in the second pic. Pic 2 Anyone know what these devices are ,they are plumbed together. Could take a guess but don't want to say something stupid:) Excuse the bad attempt at drawing an arrow on the pics:)
paul mac
yer nearly there feller, the first pic is the fuel pressure reg follow the vac pipe back to the intake plenum as in pic 2 and the pipe you need is back (towards the passenger compartment) and up about 20mm away, put a tee in that one and away you go, mines a none vvti but i think it should be the same

merckx
Is this the place to connect it, this tube goes into the sensor with the green label(is this the boost pressure sensor) Pic
geoffvalenti
That looks like the boost pressure sensor, but to be honest it realy doesn't matter where you connect the boost gauge. As long as you connect it after the throttle butterfly (i.e. closer to the engine) you'll get the correct reading of boost and vacuum. Absolute maximum boost, as put out by the turbo, should be measured before the intercooler, but that's not really the figure you're interested in and would really only be of use to see the pressure drop across the intercooler, in conjunction with the previously mentioned boost gauge take off point. Basically just tee into the pipe your arrow's pointing at and you'll be OK. Then all you've got to do is find somewhere to mount the gauge
SimonB
Quick tip for you - rather than cut the hose and put a T into it, just get a short bit of new hose, unplug the old hose and put that into one end of your T piece, your new bit on the other end and plug that back in where the old hose went. Saves cutting the original hose in case you want to put it back any time.
