Auto - Tiptronic Conv. Suprastick

I've been toying with the idea of converting an Auto to a Tiptronic gear shift.

Anyone got any experiences/thoughts on Suprastick http://www.latentsolutions.com/index.html it looks like they have a version that will work on a Mk IV

Or would it be possible to buy the necessary bits from Mr T or is it too big a change to be financially worthwhile?

Sorry mate but it will not work with the MK4 Autobox as the line pressure is controlled electronically.

The new version 4 of the Suprastick. The SSv4 is a fully programmable standalone transmission computer, complete with two 120 point automatic shift tables. It is compatible with all versions of the A34x transmission that have manual line pressure control. This includes models from Toyota (1992 and older Supra), Lexus (Early model Soarers), Jeep and Volvo. Detailed wiring schematics are available for the Toyota and some Lexus vehicles. Click the link above for more details.

I looked into this a while back and messaged the makers of the SupraStick (search the forum). Although it's called the "Supra" stick, I'm not sure it corresponds to the Toyota Supra necessarily. Something to do with the solenoids not being right from what I remember - although from what you say they may have a newer version (didn't sound like they had plans for that when I asked).

I've gone off the idea - might as well convert to a manual with a more tried and tested route.

Mark 3 :)

Other transmission controllers are available....

This one claims to work on "every type of electronic automatic transmission from Ford, Nissan, GM, Toyota, Chrysler and many other manufacturers".
